Update from Shadow point

It appears water is inching ever slightly down. And, while raining very hard almost all day. Seems, something has happened to get at least the peak water out. I assume it's the release of the water from the reservoirs.

Out house just may have escaped a very serious outcome. Not out of the woods at all, but looking a little better anyway.

Still not anywhere close to be drivable, though.

I just drove down kingsland towards barker cypress. Only able to make it just past baker road. Per others, it was driveable to barker cypress earlier this AM.

My folks are stuck out in lakemont on mason and westpark. They said 1093 and Peek as flooded effectively locking them there. I was trying to get them to come to Fort Worth but it seem impossible unless those streets drain.

Well, hard to delineate, I guess. Actually looks like most of it will flood from the Barker projections. Some of the houses closer to Kingsland to the NW are 'supposed' to be okay. We'll see...

Barker surface level is at 99.22 feet right now. Check out the map posted earlier and use the key to find the color color representing the 99 ft flood area and you'll get your answer according to the geographical survey. Doesn't look good for many hundreds of homes and businesses.

My wife's work backs up to Barker south of Kingsland close to barker cypress. We expect it to be under several feet of water.

Home Health Resources. They provide services locally in independent homes and private homes in the greater Houston area.

It's a block south of Kingsland almost at the curve where Kingsland turns north into barker cypress. Where is your home? How are you doing? I really hope you're ok so far.

We're in Lakemont too. Yes, best I can tell we are on an island for now. I'm sure you're feeling anxious, especially seeing Grand Mission behind us flood. I can say that I'm feeling a little better tonight than last night. Water in the street has held even today, even with steady rain all day.

I'm happy to check in on them if you'd like.

Sorry, my number is 713-three eight four-two two nine seven.

I live off Clay Rd between Fry and 99.

Can't access 99, but fry is clear southbound till Randalls and Northbound till at least West little york,

529 and fry is under water.

The Kroger at Fry/W Little York is open but they are slim pickings and only letting in a few people at a time.
T.Jins Chinese restaurant was open though.

I had to rescue someone from Mayde Creek Farms today, so I turned right and headed west on morton and turned left on Raintree Village Drive, and made it to Westgreen, to Katy freeway and Barker Cypress.

There was LOTS of high water on Raintree village as well as Barker Cypress past park row, but I'm in a F250 4x4 with 275s, so I just went nice and slow in the higher water areas. I normally wouldnt do that, but I had to get my friend and her kiddos out.

I'm behind Tompkins HS. Our neighborhood is in good shape. Buffalo bayou is impassible if you are on the west side trying to go east. Pine mill ranch is pretty wet on the roads. The only way available to get to 99 is still fry road. Katy flewellem is wet, greenbusch is impassible. Falcon landing also.

I live right at Morton and Ave D in old katy and we flooded last night despite building 2 ft dirt barriers all around the house and implementing a pump to move water from problematic areas.
Our neighbors have been great and taken us in along with our 4 dogs, but its been frustrating because theres nothing we can do at this point.

I am grateful that we did have time to move some items upstairs and that we are safe.

Update from Shadow Point

Well, the water is gone from our front yard. Street is clear. The huge drainage ditch behind our house is low enough to see the ditch walls. Very full still, but much lower water level.

Looks like we personally avoided a huge problem. We went from flood waters hitting our front door to now, looking like we are in the clear. My totally selfish thought is.......

WHEW!!!!!

T&P to everyone. This has been a huge ordeal for our community/city. Gonna take months, and probably years to get everyone affected back. I'm glad I won't be a burden on the limited resources needed for the massive clean up.

I live a little east of them down Morton right by the new Aristoi school. I've been at my moms house about 4 miles away since Saturday, and water is still too high for me to drive out of here, but I'm going to walk home today so I can begin cleaning up my house (We flooded on Sunday). I will try to get a picture or give a good description of what Morton looks like.

My husband and cs78 are heading to your area again today with a boat. They went yesterday and were turned away several times by law enforcement saying they were told by EOM to turn volunteers away. However, they are still seeing pleas for help so they are trying again today.

If you need help evacuating or if you are a volunteer evactuater in need of additional hands/boats please text or call Gary at 979-8 two o-187o

Re: Lakemont: Old Wooden Ship, water on our street has receded a lot; it's mostly dry. Still have water, power, electricity. If your parents are in good health and have food, they may want to hold tight. I'm not sure if there are any ways out yet. I won't say "it's over," but I feel really good about our safety here. I plan on exploring shortly.

UPDATE: OWS, from next door posts, you CAN get out of Lakemont. Lakemont Bend to Mason, west to 99. Or Lakemont Bend to Bellaire, west to 99. I understand that the HEB at 99 and Fry is open. I do not know if 99 is clear to I-10.

Y'all still helping folks today?

UPDATE:
8/29 10:30AM
Walmart at Fry/West Little York is OPEN.
Kroger at the same intersection is OPEN

Both places had no line at 8am, but when I walked out at 9:30 from Walmart there was a line and HCSO working the security.

Fry Road appears to be OK between clay road and at least West little York.

There was a long line at HEB at Fry and 99. Not sure if they were limiting folks to get in, or they could have just not opened yet. However, they will be open today.

That was at about 8:20 this morning.

In laws stuck at Hilton (I know, I know, could be worse) on south side of I-10 next to the Denny's/Bass Pro. Drive Texas (TxDOT traffic/closures site) has just changed to show 90 and I-10 between Pederson and their location as light blue (flooded) and not dark blue (closed). They were definitely "officially" closed late Sunday and Monday.

A DPS trooper told them just this morning that I-10 was "closed" both directions between Katy Mills and Sealy.

Any actual info on whether either/both of those roads are still officially closed? Could they get on either of those roads and drive west in a stock, full-sized truck?
