Huge ditch that flows into bayou is over the top. A small access road is all that's keeping it from our sub division (at cinco ranch blvd and river green). We live very close to cinco ranch blvd and westheimer parkway.

Storm sewers are full, water from the front is about 2' from the house. Roads art about 5' under water.

I have no idea what's happening around the rest of katy.

If anyone knows of a station or anything covering Katy, that would be appreciated.

I'm in Grand Lakes as well and will likely have 5' of water in my house from Barker Reservoir backing up into it in a couple of days. I'm hoping to leave in the morning. The water tonight got within 5' of my front door. It's receding now, but very slowly. I'm not sure it will be low enough to leave in the morning. Not sure what we'll do if we can't drive out.

No. Not sure how to explain it. Our sub division is shadow point, and the street we are in is Payton Chase Lane. The ditch intersects the bayou pretty close.

I live by the swim team pool. Earlier today the Corps released a statement saying they expected the uncontrolled spillway to be activated. My house is about 5' below the spillway.

Water is receding nicely. Should be able to drive out of here tomorrow

Still some confusion on reservoirs. My sister is in the neighborhood right in the northern wedge where Mason and Fry intersect near Cinco Ranch.

1. Will release from reservoir immediately help since she is just upstream?

2. Is it filling up so fast it does not matter at this point?

Also, I would echo the request for help on how she even gets out if she were to evacuate. She has a 5 year old and a 3 year old. Unfortunately, I'm in Dallas and my family all decided to ride it out despite repeated requests for them to leave on Thursday.

If your house does not have a color associated with it you are safe and do not need to leave. The water will go over the dam once it reaches 105 feet. If your house is colored, then you are at an elevation lower than that, and there's a chance your house could flood.

1) The release from the reservoir will help, but it will only slow the water backing up into the neighborhood, not stop it.

2) Yes, Barker reservoir will back up into houses, and the area where your sister lives will start to flood once the reservoir starts to reach 97 feet.

Your sister will be fine through the night, but she should start making preparations to leave tomorrow. Get all important documents and priceless things like family photos & heirlooms and get them ready to load up into a vehicle quickly.

Barker won't start to get bad until late tomorrow or later. There's less time for folks living in Addicks.

Yeah, they've already made preps and brought everything up to the first floor. They are pretty damn tough and have great attitudes but I'm a bit worried to be honest.

They're going to make the decision at daylight.

To be clear, everything *should be* passable right now. Barker Reservoir won't start reaching homes until later today/tomorrow.

I'm not on the ground there so I don't know for sure, but based upon measurements and what Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) is telling us, all parts of Cinco should be fine until the morning. Your sister should make the decision then whether to leave or not.

Basically they say that no houses will flood in the Barker Reservoir/Cinco Ranch area until Wednesday. So everyone has plenty of time to do what they need to do. However, it's pretty likely that once the waters come up, they will stay up for a long time (weeks-months). So you have 24-48 hours to prepare, but if you leave (or decide to stay) expect to be in that situation for at least a couple of weeks.

I guarantee the streets in our subdivision are not passable. the water is not going down when the rain stops but rises when it starts raining again. The storm drains are doing nothing.

I thought you posted a different map my bad. They are actually brown/yellow so right around 100 ft elevation.

Not in the blue area. I was referring to the map I just posted above (in which they are in the dark blue area and in the flooding area).

Not yet. Very close.

Another update: the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) says that houses in Addicks Reservoir will start being impacted in the next few hours, and houses in Barker Reservoir will start to be impacted later this morning.

That's my take. I wonder if something is actually wrong with something. Some huge drain that's clogged. All indications seem to be that we should be fine, but we are nowhere close to fine.

That would be my guess....that you have local flooding due to drainage issues and not Barker reservoir backing up. But....flooding is flooding...still sucks either way.
