Does anybody have any hints about when Hobby may reopen for incoming flights? My sister is supposed to fly home Thursday, and is trying to figure out whether to stick to the flights or come into San Antonio and rent a car to drive over.

ANd while Beaumont has gotten some rain, not enough ot create that level on I10.
They had received over 40 inches in Dayton as of yesterday. That water is all going south across i10 somewhere. The area between Winnie and Beaumont along I10 is very flat and low lying. Wouldn't take much to put the interstate underwater out there.

The photo wasn't Beaumont proper, was about 20 miles outside of town on I-10. They've had 40 inches of rain and also had Harvey push water in over the coast today as it passed. Was combination of flooding and storm surge.

Yup. I have a feeling that if they can get good, official measurements out of Dayton, it might win the rainfall lottery.

518 from Pearland Town Center to 35 was clear when I drove it. I encountered some water deeper into Friendswood right before 2351 yesterday, but not a lot and it may have went down now.

2351 was still a river when I saw it.

City of Mont Belvieu is reporting a little over 61 inches. That's the highest I've heard so far.

The water has nothing to do with storm surge and everything to do with 40 inches of rain and Spindletop Bayou can not drain that much water. The concrete median is acting as a dam keeping the water that should be going down Spindletop from flooding Winnie even more

2351 east of 518 is still a river. I would post pics but I suck at it. I'll try.

Yeah, that's a bunch of nope. Just happened during Harvey:

If anyone ever sees water like that on the other side of a concrete media. Please don't drive next to it. That can fail and kill everyone in the car in an instant.

I just want to take a moment to say how ******* proud I am to be a Houstonian.

Despite a few bad apples, everyone in this city has been so quick to help in any way they can. I experienced it first hand today (finally left my home) and it made a lasting impression on me. Some of this still seems surreal. It's going to be a long recovery for a lot of people, but knowing that we have each other's backs makes it an easier pill to swallow.

Thanks to everyone helping on this forum. Props to the help from the outside as well.

My husband was a Marine reservist in that unit, located in Galveston, in the 90s. He drove Amtracks. It was cool to see them out there helping folks.

This is the thing to me. In the weeks and months ahead when the news media moves on to the next big story there will still be a ton of people trying to put their lives together. A lot of focused relief and rebuilding effort will be needed.
