Your little girl is beautiful and you have to be proud. Serious question from the peanut gallery to a pro: what did you shoot that with, what parameters (metering info, etc), and....I don't even know what else. Great photo and thanks for sharing. It's been a long day.

OMG Bill Spencer on KPRC is up on the beltway at Tidwell yelling at the people on the road down below saying things like "Hey, can you hear me?!", "Look up at me and tell me where you are going!" "Hey, Look up here!" This guy is ridiculous.

Ch 9 just showed up there too. The producers probably saw Ch 13 and told their field people to get over there.

I don't really use any metering. It was still light out, but I wanted the background to be mostly dark so the rain would show up. It was about an hour before sunset, but with Harvey, obviously darker than usual. Flashes on high power, one behind and one to the side both with gels. I expose for the flash, so you can't see much ambient light (the blue breaking through at the top is the sky, which is ambient light.) One flash behind her that lights up the rain and her umbrella and one light in front and to the side to light up her face.

Back to the weather. I took a break from watching the news for the last 72 hrs and watched John Wick, is central Houston in for more heavy rain tonight? I'd like to be able to finally get some sleep tonight.

Same as it has been all day, light to moderate rain.

Its POURING on Clear Lake. Hopefully this doesn't spin up to y'all like it has been.

Lots of rain in Galveston - can see the center of the storm by the wind patterns circling in bottom left. Blue dot west end of Galveston

Just had a colleague tell me the city of Houston has a curfew in effect. I have been unable to find any announcement validating this. Can anyone confirm or deny that? I know several other cities have but am looking for Houston proper, specifically spring branch area.

Sounds like a rumor. No mention of it on their Twitter account or in the news.

Supposed to be 10pm-6am.

Biggest thing is that it isn't safe to drive at night. Easy to not see water on the road and if there is a flash flood, it could get you quick. Doesn't take a lot of water to lift a car.

That time fram is what I was told too but I can't find any announcement anywhere of that fact so it seems like someone heard one of the other cities announce curfew and confused it with Houston. Just trying to verify. Do you have a source confirming this curfew?

And yes I do fully realize and appreciate the dangers associated with being out after dark in this

Overall I have been very impressed by the local coverage. A few reporters go a little too far sometimes, but Houston has some of the best local news stations in the country in my opinion. I live out of the country so I've been relying on the online streams from KHOU, KPRC, and KTRK to keep up with what's going on.

Agreed. I've turned it to CNN 3 different times through the day and they weren't even covering it, focused on Trump. Maybe they were covering it at other times but not when I gave them a shot. Fox news was focused on looters. Good to see the local stations doing a great job on news and not sensationalism.

The good news it appears is the heavy rains are moving east and will clear the city (central) in hours. Bad news I guess for those east of the city but a moving storm is better than a stationary storm.

I'd assume the overall rotation will be to the west but the storm as a whole is moving east. I'm just hoping it doesn't get us tonight. We made it through Saturday night/Sunday morning with about 15 feet to spare. It drained completely and didn't start filling the street again until a few hours ago.

That's CNN for you. I spent all of last week in germany and the only English channel they had was like CNN World. They literally spent every moment to find ways to be bash Trump. They did manage to throw some small bits together about the North Korea spies and Wayne Rooneys return to greatness.

Today and tomorrow are supposed to be it. They've always said they expected this to be four to five days and they're all expecting it to start moving on tomorrow sometime with things getting a lot less severe Wednesday.

I know it was always predicted to be that long. I told my wife the storm was never the issue. Im just stressed as I try and make my way back home. I bet my wife goes in to labor the minute I get home. That would be about Right.

Meanwhile during sandy, all you heard for days and weeks was about how terrible it was and that it was some cataclysmic event.
That's because those beeches can't handle this. look, this is really bad, but living down here we kinda expect this right? I mean no one expects a 1000 year flood but we will overcome this and rebuild. I don't want sympathy from everyone else; I know this sucks because I'm in it! Material things will be replaced; Texas will rise again!

Glad to see Houstonians & fellow Ags on this thread helping others & showing resilience. I was scheduled to fly out to LA on Thursday but my flight got cancelled so I took 290 through Austin to Wimberley. United let me change my flight without penalty to leave out of Austin a day earlier. Everyone please be safe....had several friends flooded & some with mandatory evacs. Hoprfully more stores, restaurants, etc begin opening in the next few days

Jetch we made it back to twin lakes. The subdivision is impassible by vehicle right past the guardhouse at the Eldridge entrance. We walked in to your street, water is between knees and nuts in the middle of the street. Most houses are built well above street level and the highest water was about halfway up the yards. I did not see anyone's homes flooded. Both lakes were out of their bank. There were a few people in the neighborhood but most had left. We will be able to easily get the boats in tomorrow to help evacuate if it's necessary. Addicks reservoir has flooded Eldridge to the light at the intersection. Lakes on Eldridge appears to be worse but we didn't go into the subdivision. Bradford has flooded houses.
