My Thursday bone marrow donation won't happen in Houston. They want me to go to Ft. Worth today. My heart breaks for the guy on the other end, but I can't leave. I hope they can stop his conditioning or extend the window to harvest. All of this happening, and now this is on my conscience.

Have family in Greatwood area of Sugarland trying to get out. Does anyone know if 59 to the west of Sugarland is open? If they could get over to 36 or somewhere there, they could get a route North and get out of it. They have 2 kids and 3 dogs in two cars. Praying they can make it out!!
JRey just showed that 59 just southwest of sugar land is open but not sure if you can go farther southwest. She said to try 359 north of 59 and it will take you to Brookshire

Assuming you came up 288. How about a road update for a concerned dad with a daughter in Pearland.

I just drove down 518 from Pearland to Friendswood to pick up some friends from a shelter. 518 is clear ezcept for one area just west of 2351 where the water is pretty high. Normal height vehicles would probably stall out - one Challenger was still stuck there.

2351 is still a River, and had a few boats running on it.

One good bot of news is Central Texas BBQ was open, and also that Mexican restaurant near it.

GCP,

My wife and I live in Eastwood on Polk. No flooding on Polk. There is actually a bit of traffic on the street. We didn't lose power but for 30 seconds on Saturday night. There are a couple of roads with high water in the area but nothing rctensive. Addotionally, it appears no homes are flooded on the portions of Lockwood, polk, and telephone that I could see.

I've been looking at flood maps for the Brazos. Can someone explain to me how the base flood elevation on the map relates to the elevation on the chart above? Thanks.

LG is flooding. 71 is for sure closed there and as of earlier this morning 77 was closed as well. I think you could possibly skirt it and get back on 77 N if you really wanted to though.

I'm not an expert by any means, but what I've learned from watching that same graph for my area (Spring Creek), is that the flood level is measured from some point...not sure if it's the creek bed or what. But it's not representative of the TOTAL elevation. For example, our graph shows the creek has reached 110 feet. But, we know from other graphs that the TOTAL elevation at that point is about 142 feet. And my neighborhood is at a total of 169 feet. Does that kind of make sense?

If you look at the bottom of those graphs it says 0 datum 27 feet or whatever. That means that 0 on this scale is 27 feet above sea level. Then the river goes up from there.

If she is in new Pearland just east of 288 around 518 she should be fine. Some neighborhoods have limited access at times during heavy rains. We got onto 288 from CR 59 and got off at Bellfort to sneak onto 610.

From what I can tell with my friends who live close by her is that everything is okay for the most part. Seems like the majority of the neighborhoods are seeing lots of street flooding but minimal house flooding. I guess that's a positive.

Channel 2 keeping it to the news and doing a really good job on reporting the weather.

Very few reporters out looking for victims to stick mics in front of.
