Barker Reservoir is currently at 97.6 feet and holding around 119,000 acre-ft of water. The max pool (point where water hits the end of the levee, not over top) is at 104 feet and 209,600 acre-ft. The entire drainage basin leading to the reservoir is around 126 square miles (80,600 acres). With the 12 inches of rain over the past 24 hours, there is still a good amount of water flowing towards the reservoir. Probably not the full 80,600 acre-ft, but close enough for the USACE to worry and start releasing water out the gates. House flooding started at 95 feet and 83,000 acre-ft

At what point does the NWS just admit they have no idea what is going on?

I thought they said this was all but done yesterday and was to move off and to the NE?

No one ever said that. From the very beginning this was forecast to hang around until late this week.
Yeh even in Denver, watching local and national news, both have been saying this was sticking around till end of week. Path I saw yesterday showed center of storm in Houston around Wed., then by thursday it's gone up north, but still rain all around it.

Okay, I am back near Kaufman Elementary

So sorry to everybody who is dealing with this right now.

Thanks for all the updates Ags. While I am safe I cannot help but be brought to tears watching what others are going through.

Praying everybody gets out safely.
Ahh. We are right by Kaufman as well in Forest I. Everything was and is fine at the moment. The Meadows back behind Kaufman got pretty deep...water got in some of the garages back there since the retention pond there overflowed some. The pond in front of the Gardens and Arbors entrance overflowed onto Northridge Forest. The lakes back in the Falls were pretty high but I have heard of no flooding back there.

Thanks again. I'm in The Falls. Goodness, I have a teacher friend who lives back by The Meadows off Aldine Westfield. Not sure the name of the area. She's right across from the Meadows in some smaller homes. Hope things are good there.

Herzog's forecast seems much more optimistic than others out there. Hoping he is right, but he basically has Harris and the western counties at only a couple more inches of rain.

He was more optimistic yesterday than others and things were looking good last night for central Houston but Harvey has fought it's way to the coast and has fought off the dry air to begin producing a lot of rain over the city again. Hope Herzog's right and it moves out soon.

So far I've got a total of 27.25" of rain here in Pearland, with no signs of slowing down. Fortunately our neighborhood is still dry in the homes, but the streets are starting to collect.

Montrose is completely fine from what I saw driving around yesterday. Everything could be open and running except for the fact that the employees can't get here.

Wunderground has path like this.

Then the sats have this as of this AM:

https://www.moutoncoveweather.com/tropical-imagery-2.php

It looks like it's getting bigger and stronger. I mean that sat image makes it look even worse than it did Saturday. NWS says max of 12 more inches between now and Wed. That seems optimistic.

There is no dry air coming. What I'm saying is there seems to be a bit of a downplay in the media and from local LE that is understating the risk that this gets worse before it gets better.

It looks like the worst case is possible, the thing ducks out to the gulf and picks up some more rain and turns around and dumps it back into the city.

Hence why they had to start releasing water from it.

I evacuated Grogans Point in the Woodlands last night and am staying with a friend in Shenandoah. I'd like to go back and check on things. From what I saw leaving grogans point I would think driving conditions would be fine everywhere except sawdust. Could I park near south millbend and sawdust and walk or is that water too high to walk through at this point?

I think I heard late yesterday that you can't get in/out of that area. But I'm not certain. Maybe check Gordy Bunch's Facebook page, if you use that. It's actually a good source of info right now.

I tried to get back there and it appeared to be possible, but they had a sheriff's barricade and no one was allowed in or out. Sawdust had 6-12 inches of water on the road between Millbend and Grogans Point. Multiple trucks drove through the water (leaving the neighborhood) only to have the sheriff tell them to turn around. Seemed extremely strange to me to make them go back through the water, they should have a barricade on both sides of the water.

That's a lot more concerning than the Barker figures.

For TexAG team. Thinking ahead. We are fairly sure this storm is headed near Lufkin, or Lake Charles. Can we leverage the site to encourage folks to connect with their local A&M Club?. We will need those connections in the following weeks/months to connect resources with needs like The Association did after Katrina.

Just made it back to Upper Kirby from Pearland. It took four different trips throughout the last couple days.

I feel so lucky but it's terrifying out there. Be safe everybody.
