Stay put, swimmer. If there are cars still driving, you're high enough.

Lots of homes flooded in Oak Forest.

All the usual ones, but several others as well.

Glebe has become a river, so every home at the intersecting streets is at risk, some already flooding.

We are dry for now. Just praying this rain stops for a few hours. We are on the corner of Glebe and 3 houses down has water in it. Not sure about closer houses. In idiot news, someone's junior high aged kid decided to go swimming in that Glebe river.

Thanks - assume from your post you were driving north trying to get into OF on TC Jester/ Rosalyn? Did you even make it to the tracks?

It is very bad down by the Bayou. Just drove over there. Was hoping there was a way to evacuate but pretty sure OF people are trapped in. Cars flooded 3/4 of the way up to roof on rossylin just south of tracks. I had a truck so thought maybe there was a chance of getting into the inlaws but don't think that's possible.

Yup, OF is basically trapped.

Good luck to you and yours, this sucks. I'm barely in the 500 and was told flood insurance wasn't needed when I was naive and bought this house. Would feel so much better right now if we had it.

Didn't they create the contra flow right near Conroe after the last failed evacuation? If they were going to use it, now would have been a good time.

I do think Turner was very confident in his reasoning though and it still may have been the best decision. The only thing - they should have ordered a "voluntary evacuation for areas that are flood prone" and for those who flooded or nearly flooded during "last years tax day flood".

Parents in bellaire have flooded, everyone on the street is in one persons house.

Just terrible. Refused to leave early, I think the lull yesterday caught people with pants down

Boo, w'er outside all flood plains, but have it anyway. It's a good idea. If your house weathers this without flooding, I suggest getting it. just in case. Ours is only $450 per year. Not horrible.

How are y'all holding up?

Thank you for asking. Doing very well. Luckily my street is the best I've heard of in our area. No flooding and wife has stayed very immobile to prevent anything causing labor.
Thanks again for asking. Hope everyone is doing as well as they can

Looks like my comment on workers staying due to no evacuation was deleted? It was not political and directly related to the questions on why folks had stayed. I was almost directly impacted by this. If this thread is for water levels only... can we only link government websites next? Man, that's some Fahrenheit 451 level stuff. I've screen shot this comment...

Because apparently we are kids and can only post good news & link news during a disaster with no situational discussion, here's a funny video on a man catching a fish in his house, making the best of the situation:

It's quite possible, but pretty much everyone is getting islanded in.

Just sit tight. That's safest for you. We're all in for a wild ride.

How is it now this morning? My parents live on Sapphire Circle just a few houses north of the boat ramp. They were up all last night, creek got within 4 feet of their foundation but has since receded. Apparently there was a significant drop at some point, so I was wondering if water started going over the dam, not just the spillway.

Just Called my dad, he said based on what he can see of a picnic table closer to their house, it's dropped about a half a foot. Previous two storms, it completely receded to top of bulkhead in 24 hours, so luckily it goes down quickly. As long as they get a small break now and again maybe they'll be alright.

Here it is now, can still see the top of his deck posts, so that's good. Those are 5' tall, and about 2' below their back patio concrete.

Dad added those pole extensions after last year when the jetski floating dock floated up over the top of poles and floated off into the lake.
He added poles to boat lift too, but got the boat on the trailer and parked it by garage just to be safe.

I remember that comment - it was extremely relevant. I couldn't believe people worked yesterday. But what you said made sense - if you're under no type of evacuation and are forced to work to keep your job...
