Getting absolutely BLASTED in Friendswood.

Never seen ran come this fast and heavy.

Last night the wind was like having a jet engine alongside the house.

Tonight it's like a giant is running a firehose full open on us.

I'm on Cheena/Hillcroft. Where are you located? Water in the streets is draining faster than I would have thought...but it also came up extremely fast. I feel that we got lucky it stopped raining. We just moved to the area about 8 months ago so this is our first storm here and not sure what to expect (other than what the neighbors have told us).

Rutherglenn/Hillcroft. Just moved in about 6 months ago, but grew up in the neighborhood. So first storm in this house, but not in the area.

Gotta love it. Reporter asks the Spanish speaking police chief to say something in Spanish and 13 cuts away.

Well he was stuttering like he barely knew Spanish

Flood control intermittent for me but white oak @ lake view is @ 94.84' with TOB 98.4 but seems to be starting to level out on the graph though for those in or around JV that are interested

Brays is high but not out of the banks. Poor Farm Ditch (West U into Brays) is also still in its banks.

I'm on Grape between Hillcroft and Chimney Rock. Have lived in this block, or had family live nearby since 1987 -- including Allison, Memorial Day and Tax Day floods.

I went to the HEB at Buffalo Speedway at just before 8 and Jason just had water in the gutters. Left the store after 10 minutes and it was raining torrents. I got to Mullins and Beechnut at 8:45 and the water in the streets was as high as I have ever seen it. I was driving an SUV and was worried that I might have a high water issue -- bow wave was impressive and I had to keep the throttle down until the driveway -- but thank God I didn't. Water is dropping now and headed towards the bayou with swift current, indicating that the bayou is low enough to handle the drainage and that the street flooding was caused by overwhelming rain over a short time.

Harris County Flood Warning site seems to be down but the NWS site indicates that Braes Bayou went from 24.77 ft above sea level at 7:30 pm to 37.53 ft at 9:45 pm. That rise is as rapid as the Memorial Day flood in 2015 but we didn't have the instant flooding on the streets then as we just had. Flood stage is 41 feet but I suspect that is measured further towards the Loop. If this keeps up the neighborhoods between the ghetto HEB and JCC and the Loop will get water -- again.

I know houses on the bayou side of Yarwell got some water then but don't think it went much further south than that. This is different, though.

Heavy rain actually showing up in League City now. Satellite is out at this point. Last I heard was Tim Heller saying it might stall over the top of us. Yippee.

Apparently this big band is stalling and filling in out to the west. The center of Harvey was only moving at 1 mph.

Could be a long night.
