Storm chaser was in the eye wall in Rockport live streaming 150 mph winds with roofs flying through the air but a small blue shed right next to him remained undamaged all night and survived. Was absolutely amazing.
It's worth going back and watching his video. You'll be puckered up
Yeah, was pretty incredible to see live. His broadcast cut out not long after the structure they were sheltering in collapsed and a lot of folks (myself included) thought we had just watched a man die...
Then of course twitter started the #blueshed movement after the improbable survival of the structure.
No, he's holding it down on Twitter right now. The blue shed made it too.
That blue shed needs to be made into a state monument. I might make a pilgrimage to see it one day soon.
Can someone explain the blue shed? I saw it referenced earlier, but somehow missed exactly what happened.
Short version: Jeff Piotrowski was live streaming from the eyewall in Rockport last night while holed up in one of the bays of a carwash. All living hell was breaking loose around him and I thought he was live streaming his imminent death. Anyway, right in front of him at the car wash was this small blue shed. The kind of small wooden shed you see for sale at Home Depot. Here is the blue shed:
That blue shed stood there like a rock giving Harvey the single finger salute all night long while everything else around it was being dismantled. It still stands like a pillar this morning. You can see glimpses of it to the left in the early parts of this video:
If things got bad in Oak Forest last night, I wouldn't know. I knocked off a little before 2200 and didn't wake up until 0800. I was dead to the world.
Went to a bday party in Katy earlier.
I've been incredibly fortunate today with very little rain and no flooding. Very thankful.
Parts of PortA and Rockport level. Very sad for those folks.
Grievances so far though: - Every local station humping the Sienna tornado into the ground. - Local traffic people showing the same two feeder road spots over and over again and proclaiming Houston as nearly impassable. One of them being in Brookshire. - TWC having reporters stand next to a half full bayou for at least half of their hourly broadcast when all the damage and action is to the SW.
Roof damage all around, near my neighborhood, from last night. We had a couple tornadoes within miles. 99 & 1093. My neighbor was having his roof worked on during the slight break in rain. Not a non-event and lots of rain to come. Most of it still to come. And we're continuing to get tornado warnings.

Rockport-Fulton to rename athletic teams the Blue Sheds.
