Anyone in Greatwood? Parents live there but are out of town.

I'm in greatwood. Got 9", but been clear all morning because we are between two squall lines. No power outages or flooding. A few trees down. Power is out around Greatwood (new territory, first colony, etc), but all good here. PM me if you need anything or if you want me to do a drive by and check on things.

Thanks Tabasco. Thought of you, wasn't sure you still lived there. I'll PM if they would like someone to do a drive by.

If you drive there go ahead and stay there.

I'm super surprised the loopty loop path projection of regeneration and second landfall turned out to be total BS. Wonder how many sponsor dollars the grocery and home improvement stores sent to the weather folks. Just a rainstorm for houston.

Or it could be the fact that, you know, weather forecasting isn't an exact science. I'd say it's still a little early to declare that this is just a "rainstorm".

So what's the current thought on office closures next week? Likely to be open Monday/Tuesday? I'm hoping to at least get a long weekend out of this!

Heads up for anyone with Xfinity internet that rents your router from Comcast: your router broadcasts your password protected signal and a signal that is meant to be comcast public wifi for anyone that is a comcast customer. Because of Harvey, comcast opened up the public wifi to anyone. My home internet is severely affected (to where streaming doesn't even work). I logged into my comcast account and turned the public wifi off.

It just keeps plowing inland. It's already well past the point a lot of the models had it turning.

Fingers crossed it keeps going the way it's going.

This!

AFA- are you seeing a chance it stays off the coast and Houston doesn't get the 30 inches we feared?

i know you are fishing for attention but the viewing areas cover 10+ counties for these news stations. There were tornadoes overnight near the sugar land area. Some folks faced legitimate damage to their homes in areas probably less than 30 minutes from you. Do us all a favor and just stop.

me too. You can turn off broadcasting the name of your router, but that doesn't solve the public wifi issue.

EDIT: I googled this and found it:

it was buried in account settings. They recently changed the account interface so articles on the internet are obsolete. I'll walk you through it when my hands aren't full. Comcast also said it would take 24 hours to go into effect.

Are you having the same issues with your internet?

This xfinitywifi WiFi signal is completely separate from your private XFINITY WiFi home network and won't slow down your home broadband connection.

I'm not a weatherman by any stretch of the imagination. I'm just comparing what I'm seeing in the track vs. what was predicted prior to landfall. The good news is that of the models that show it looping still, many aren't showing it going back into the gulf.

I noticed that the eye of the storm is still tracking NW. I thought by now it would be going NE. Isn't this a good sign for us Houston folks?

Latest models have it:

Not going back to the gulf (good)

Staying just west of Houston (bad for flooding)

Just some localized street flooding right now after the first big round of rain. Most of it has drained off with the lull this morning.

Took this at 34th and TC Jester around 7:45

Pretty sure channel 2 just outed your real name.

Wait what?? Don't know how they did it, have only posted it here.

If that's true, some guy named Mark just jacked your photo, lol
