Yeah, that is pretty much the worst case for Houston/Harris County. 25-30 inches dropped and isolated spots higher than that.
I live in Oak Forest. My neighbor who has lived there for 30-ish years said that Allison came up about halfway through our yards. I was always pretty confident we could survive anything with no flood insurance, but when you factor this amount of rain with how much much soil has been replaced by concrete in the Heights/OF areas and Houston in general, it has me pretty nervous.

And *this* is the argument for flood insurance. Let's hope none of us need it this weekend.

I grew up and still live in the area. Check the sewer inlets when the water starts building. Half the time it's tree limbs or trash that blocks it. Happened to our street during Ike. Just don't be a dumbass and try to unblock it by hand.

Then again with your annoying trolling, maybe getting sucked down a storm drain would be a good life lesson.

We are ****ed. Minutes from flooding during the Memorial Day floods and apparently had some water in the house during Allison.

Yup. We live in Oak Forest as well.

We're outside of the 500 year flood plain, but we buy it just in case anyways. Only $450/year.

We're in Timbergrove in the 100 year or 50 year or whatever so we pay around $1,500 a year. Not really how I feel about getting a return on that investment.

What's really going to suck is that the game of thrones season finale is Sunday and most of us either won't have power or satellite feed due to the heavy rain.

Why the need for a battery operated phone charger?

Can't you just plug it into the wall?

If this is anything like Allison, make sure you have a plan to get your cars to higher ground, get valuable stuff off the floor and be prepared to sit around the house for a couple of days drinking lukewarm beer with no power (based on my experience in Bellaire back in the day).

And learn to love the smell of mildew.

Myself, along with about 26 other friends had AirBNB'ed a badass 10 bedroom house on Galveston for this weekend to close out the summer... $1,700 for the weekend. The contract specifically states that it's non-refundable past a certain date, even in the event of a hurricane. We all thought we were screwed. Luckily the owner was cool enough to let us move it to a weekend in October. It won't be the same, but at least we aren't losing the $.

Kind of hard to plug a phone into a wall if there is no power at said wall.

Parts of the City received over 20 inches of rain in a 10-hr period. It appears that Harvey will be bringing a lot of rain with it, but it may be more spread out over a period of a few days.

It's also pretty hard to turn on a TV when there's no power.

Reference point, the Tax Day Floods were from 12-14 inches over 10 hours, but was mainly in the Ad***** and Barker resorvoir drainage basin. Good thing Ad***** is drained back down from the rain over a week ago

All is well. He is recovering from surgery. They are talking about a Friday/Saturday discharge, hence my pucker with this storm looming.

Another reference point. In Bellaire/Meyerland, Memorial Day Flood was 11-12 inches over 6 hours or so.

Yup. They had a release going from Barker the past two weekends. The bayou was up near the trail under Hwy 6. Actually partially on it on the 12th.
