Power back on in firethorne (west katy/north of Fulshear).

The retention ponds and ditches along 1463 are very full. If the rain keeps up, this is going to get ugly quicker than anyone thinks.

Here in Spring Branch we've had about 1" of rain and have never lost power. Haven't had much at all over on this side of town.

NW Houston has been spared so far. Wind has been light/moderate with the worst around 4-6 am and bear creek is soaking up the runoff. No street flooding. I feel bad for the suckers flying to Houston, my buddy at United said they were going to have a massive CF of cancelled flights all week. Go ahead and reschedule your travel if you haven't already.

Yes, I imagine they have backup power on their hot spots. If you look on your available networks right now you should see one listed as xfinitywifi

They also have a map posted online of where they're located. Had no idea they had so many. Also didn't realize they're always available to customers. Not sure how I missed that.

The hot spots are customers who use Comcast's equipment.

Most of their hotspots are just normal customer's wifi access points. Each has a password protected channel and an open channel.

So if power is out where you are it's likely out for your neighbors with Xfinity also.

Channel 2 just showed tape of some dumbass driving straight into a flooded out West Bellfort. Good thing cops were nearby to fish him out.

Comcast turned all their customers cable modems into public wifi a few years back. if you have a cable modem and don't disable it your sharing your connection with the neighborhood

I'd hold off in declaring victory. Tonight/tomorrow was always the worst time for Houston from a flood perspective.

9-10 inches in Fulshear. Got little sleep last night and what little I did was terrible. Winds and rains along with numerous tornado warnings were pretty brutal.

We're in a 30 to 40 inch rainfall zone. I have no idea how the area is going to handle that.
