In the 3rd inning of today's game, a Jacksonville State left-handed batter hit a majestic drive over the RF fence, but about 10-15 feet foul. The wind-aided ball landed on the concrete portion of the railroad tracks (between the rails), bounced over the second chainlink fence, and landed on Wellborn road.
Since the basketball game had recently ended, a long line of cars was backed-up southbound on Wellborn. Well, sure enough, a student got out of his waiting car (a white SUV I think), picked up the baseball on Wellborn and threw it all the way back into right field from the road.
Wow, that was impressive. I had never seen that before at Olsen. Old army still lives!
