The astros inability to get either of the jones boys outs continues. By far the biggest astros killers ever. Besides jim edmonds of course.

Based on this, from Roger himself, I'd say no ....
quote:
I was just sitting back and letting him enjoy it over there," Clemens said. "I mean, what else can you do? It was a very hittable pitch. Guys on this level, whether they're 21 or 41, are going to hit that. And he took advantage of it. I've given up some home runs, I'm sure, in my career. But it was probably pretty exciting for that kid.

I will preface this with stating that I am a huge Braves' fan. So, with that said:

Thankfully, Roger has a little more class than some of you people on here. He left one in a bad spot, and McCann took advantage of it. Why not tip your cap to the kid, like Roger did, and move on?

As for the curtain call, why do some of you even care? This kid is a 21-year-old rookie, who absolutely IGNITED the Braves tonight, and got the generally ho-hum fans at Turner off their butts and into the game, against arguably the BEST pitcher ever to take the field in the history of MLB.

Furthermore, I don't expect to see the Braves win either of the two games this weekend in Houston. The Braves roster is very young, and the bullpen ain't real good. However, I was very excited to see a Braves team actually CARE about being in the playoffs last night. We probably won't win much this post-season, but I think the young talent is there for the Braves to be VERY good in the very near future.

Iguchi took a curtain call in the 5th inning of Game 2 against the Red Sox. Admittedly, I'm a Braves fan, but It's really not a big deal. This is the freakin' playoffs, and every run is huge. It was the dude's first career playoff at-bat and McCann hit one off a guy who has been winning Cy Youngs since he was a little kid. On top of that, he basically shifted the momentum of the entire series with that bomb. I'd be pretty jacked too.

As for my series outlook...I think it goes back to Atlanta at the least. Sosa's gonna surprise some peope with how good he is, and I think he could take Game 3...it should be a good pitcher's duel, anyway. Game 4's gonna be an offensive battle, assuming it's Thomson vs. Backe. I definitely don't see the Astros taking Games 3 & 4.

I hope you are right, Permian. However, the Braves bullpen is just bad.

I know what Bobby has been saying about Reitsma's last two appearances, but he makes me nervous. Also, although Farnsworth came out there in the 9th, I did not like seeing him go to 2-0 on each of the first two batters that inning. I fear that our bullpen will be our undoing this year.

However, if they can re-sign Furcal next year....this team could have alot of pieces in place to make a serious run.
