W.Taveres is very fast. The fastest, I don't know about that. In football, you think of Bob Hayes. He was a real baller, meaning he was world class speed who also was a playa. Not a novelty. W.Gault wasn't a novelty, but not of the caliber on Hayes.

Who's the fastest (relevant) player in baseball history?

To be honest, right now I think Willy T. is the fastest player in baseball. He hits a routine ground ball to second and almost beats it out. He has 69 infield hits this year. That is crazy.

if willy t was left handed he'd be way quicker to first than ichiro

I would take Willy over Ichiro in a foot race by a split second.

Ryan will have a little more to say I'm sure, but you can't ignore Crawford down in TB.

Willy T is VERY fast, but is not a good base runner yet... He will get better I hope, but thhe still makes some mistakes on the paths and reading the ball when it is hit and he is on the move...

Honestly i think jose rayes for the mets might be the fastest player in baseball. Willy T is definetly in the top 2 or 3 though. He just needs to learn how to get a jump, and he will steal 50+ bases a year.

I'm guessing Ricky Henderson must have had some quicks too.

Willy T, Reyes, & Crawford are probably the current upper-tier....

It's probably some guy we've never heard of who can't hit, or field but is on someone's roster as a PHer because he can flat out fly

as for Henderson....he wasn't the fastest but he studied and read pitchers better than anyone

Ricky-be-Ricky had the best baseball istincts I've ever seen. I think that, as much as his talent, led to his success and longevity.

Saw a scouts take on the fastest players in the game and he said Willy had the fastest time to first base over anyone in baseball by almost 2 tenths of a second. This being from the right side when Reyes and Crawford come from the left has to mean he is the fastest. Also Rocco Baldelli from Tampa has some serious wheels.

I was going to mention Baldelli but he didn't play this year

just after that last play, i'm gonna rank watch Willy run right behind Vlad making throws from RF the 2 most enjoyable things to watch in baseball.

Sid Bream could still out run them all.

As far as flat out historical speed, I would have to give Lou Brock serious consideration.

From home to 1st noone's faster that Willie T. From 1st to home or 2nd to home, you *might* give the slight nod to Reyes...
