He definetely had orders to take until he got a strike. You could tell by how he was lunging out of the way. He wasn't ready to pull the trigger. Then, the 2-1 pitch was way high. On the 3-1 pitch, he may have had the take sign.

I was at the game...it was a whole lack of heart and the failure to play fundamental baseball. It all starts at the top...

I'll agree with the lack of fundamental baseball part, but there is no way you could judge the heart of this team by sitting in the stands.

I think a lot of the criticisms of this team, coaching staff, etc. are valid, but for fans to fire off anonymous blasts on an internet board about the team's heart, desire or will to win is fairly cowardly. Maybe this team has no heart. Who knows? But I assure you there is no way to know that by watching from the bleachers or hacking on your computer.

Does it matter? Is the state of the program better than it was 5 years ago? That is the barometer, and the answer is, even compared to a dismal season 5 years ago, no, we are no better off than then.

If not a lack of heart, then some of the guys just need to pull their heads out, because there were some lazy/stupid/careless things going on last night.
