The cool thing about softball, one dominant pitcher and a couple that are adequate can take you all the way. Very impressive how they have improved the last couple of seasons to become one of the best.

andy, you are correct. Look at the impact Osterman has had on t.u. softball before she left for the olympics (conference champions), her absence (celler dweller), and her return (ranked top 10).

How many home runs has she hit so far? Not uncommon for a pitcher in softball to be a good hitter but she really pounds the ball.

To those who haven't really been watching, it takes more than a dominant pitcher to go the distance. Texas sucked last year not only due to Cat's absence, but also due to a lack of defensive play and bats. Don't let the rankings fool you,,,Texas is having problems this year with Cat on the rubber (she's lost 2 already due to a complete lack of offense). Even the Texas fans over on hornfans have realized this. Don't misunderstand me; a dominant pitcher is hard to beat, but a lot of no-hitters are the result of stellar defense, and if the team can't generate any runs, it's a wasted effort.

Cat has 249 Strike outs for the season so far
tu combined has 402 SO this season with a 0.48 ERA and opposing batters are hitting at a .107 BA
tu batting avg is .253 with a .319 BA
