They like to bring up the fact that they eliminated Texas from the CWS 2 years ago, but they fail to mention that they were owned 4 times by the Longhorns last season. And then owned by A&M on their own field in the regionals.

Nobody is questioning the caliber of Rice's baseball program, so I really don't know what's got your underpants in a twist. But your criticism of Texas seems to be stemming more from your dislike of them than from any factual considerations. It goes way beyond bias when you can look at a team that's 17-1 (5-1 against top 10 opponents), and your main argument is that they've won so many 1-run games that the law of averages is bound to bite them in the ass at some point.

Texas is easily one of the top 3 teams in the country. If you cant see that, you're an umpire or just plain stupid. They're 7-0 in 1 run games and 5-1 against top 10 teams. Who else in the country can claim that? To look at those numbers and say they arent the best team in the Big 12 at this point is being blind.

totally agree with icecream_ag

Why the heck are there more sips on this board than aggies? Personally I don't go to hornfans cause I don't care what's being said over there. I would think all these sips would feel the same about texags.

I would definitely say that the one run game argument does have *some* merit to it, but even if they only win half then texas is still 14-4 with 2 3 game series against top 10 opponents.

I would look more at run differential to determine the quality of a team, though with only 18 games that can be misleading. Obviously determining who had the best season can only be determined after the season and even that doesn't mean d!ick come postseason play. Its all about who's hot at that point (see Astros 2004....Marlins 2003.....Angels 2002).

Its funny that baseball is such a statistical sport with so many regular season games that seem to make it predictable, yet the entire thing is decided on just a handful of postseason games.

I really don't care about any Texas sports other than baseball. I guess I'm becoming more interested in the others because I've been living in Austin for the past three years.

But I come here instead of hornfans because I don't like the design of that site, and I'm not a big fan of most of the people who post over there. There's almost no traffic on the Orangebloods baseball board, and the baseball fans on this site actually seem to be knowledgable about the game beyond just the teams they support.

Plus, thanks to people like Luke, this is the best place on the Internet for score updates.

Well they certianly LOOKED for a way. Heck, Sam took the school to court!

Odd, considering that Sam met the NCAA requirements and was not allowed back by the University.

Trader_Jorge is obviously right here. Texas is a terrible team and J. Brent Cox is having a terrible season. J. Brent Cox allowed 6 runs in one game without getting an out. Other than that, the guy has thrown 18 innings allowing one run all season long. But don't let what is obviously one fluke game get in the way of the facts. Cox is 4/4 on save opportunities and Clayton Stewart has a 0.89 ERA.

Those guys are the reason that Texas has such a good record in close games, not luck. Dominant bullpens win close games, it's not that hard really.

Besides, Trader, shouldn't you be posting more umpire's home phone numbers on Owlzone?
