Yes I know it is absurdly early to be asking this, but what do y'all think our weekend rotation ends up being next year (to start the year, will likely change through the year of course)?

Personally I think:

Friday - Freshcorn
Saturday- Sims
Sunday - Jarret Williams / Wade cooper

Wade Cooper was better last season as the closer than being molded into a starter.

If they are able to lock down Marcos Paz, that could potentially be a weekend starter.

With zero inside information, I think we landed copper because we offered him an opportunity to start.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Vincent and Prisco get some looks to be the 3rd weekend starter as well

Obviously Freshcorn and Sims(if he's healthy). Besides them, I expect the last spot with go to one of Williams, Ramirez, or Prisco. But there's a lot of offseason left, so it's too early to know.

This. Vincent will be right in the middle of it.

Vincent has all the measureables. He needs to command the ball and he could be real good

David Ramirez, assuming he's healthy.

Mr. 6.35 ERA with a 1.765 WHIP? I guess if your looking to fill Sdaos spot.

Was he highly touted out of highschool or did he impress that much during the fall before he got injured?

There's this thing in sports called development. You should look into it. While you're there tell us those same stats for Simms in 2025. Tia.

Careful, you're going to trigger ryan with McCoys 9+ ERA his freshman year.

Didn't he have TJ? If so, he's not gonna be pitching again until like November at the earliest and he'll need time to get back to form.

You do know the stats are on the roster page, right?

McCoy has very similar numbers to Freshcorn in 2025. Both with a 1.2 WHIP and 4 something ERA.

Hoping Hunter Vincent goes from 1.76 WHIP to sub 1.2 is or better is not development. Its called a drastic change.

I'm hopeful that Josh Stewart will finally beat the injury bug, as I would guess that he's coming back after back-to-back medical red shirt years. He was pretty good for us two years ago and looked decent before he went down last year. It'd be awesome if he could post a strong season as one of our starters... kind of like our former ace, Prager, did. Also, not sure why, but I have a gut feeling that Johnny Nuanez will be important piece of our pitching staff next year. I haven't really seen anyone discussing this kid and, no, I'm not his dad.

I agree with what you're saying in general, but fyi freshcorn had a 2.82 ERA and 1.05 WHIP last year

By all accounts, Josh Stewart ain't coming back. He gave a lot to this program but from what I've heard he's moving on to the next chapter in life.

He's played 5 years of college baseball now (1 as a fish at UTEX) and had 2 season ending injuries within the first few weeks of the last 2 seasons. Can't blame him, and I'm not even sure he'd get another year if he tried.

Oh, that's too bad. I was hoping the kid would finally catch a break. Good luck to him in whatever he decides to pursue.

He just needs more control. It's not like he hasn't showed anything to warrant optimism.

Vincent had a higher SO rate than Freshcorn or McCoy has had at any point at A&M. He also had a lower BAA than Freshcorn at any point and hasn't allowed a single extra base hit.

His numbers are inflated due to walks. With a new pitching coach and another year of experience, it is not unreasonable to think he could bring that number down to a manageable point.

I'm impressed you're still beating that drum. Again, please research Simms stats for 2025 and report back. Until then you just sound silly. We literally saw this last year.

Full mea culpa, I got my Kaden, Caden, Kaidens mixed up. I was thinking Kaiden Wilson, not McCoy. I blame suburban white women and I hate them a little for it.

Thanks for the clarity in this response. I don't know how anybody could watch this guy and not see the potential. He definitely can be in the mix for the rotation and could even be the ace. I could also see Sims in the Friday role.

It's like you don't understand baseball. Guys who miss bats but can't find the strike zone can have a "drastic change" if they start finding the strike zone a bit more. Fun comparison:

Chris Cortez
2023: 2.06 WHIP 8.6 BB/9 9.9 H/9 8.4 K/9
2024: 1.24 WHIP 5.1 BB/9 6.0 H/9 14.2 K/9

Hunter Vincent
2026: 1.76 WHIP 8.7 BB/9 7.1 H/9 15.9 K/9

I am highlighting the probability of it happening next year. Please list the number of guys that improved their WHIP by 0.5 in the last 5 years.

Even Cortez never had a enough control to make starter. Schloss just had a good sense for how long to leave him on the field. By the way Cortez has struggled every year in the pros with his control.

The freshman to sophomore jump is near universally the biggest one we see in college sports. Telling us something is drastic that we saw this year suggests it's not as drastic as you think it is. If Vincent cuts his walks in half his WHIP is 1.26 which is an improvement of .54 and he would still have a below average BB/9 at 4.05. Meanwhile he gave up 9 hits in those 11 innings and had a ridiculous 20 K. Cut the walks in half and he's possibly the most dominant guy on the staff. Can he do that? Who knows but it's not nearly as far off as you seem to think it is. He's already got swing and miss stuff, the numbers prove that. Just needs a bit more control.

I still think its
Fri:Sims
Sat: Freshcorn
Sun: Ramirez/Bond

Weekday starter: Ramirez/Bond/Powell

We wil go into the season with pitching being our biggest ? as well as frankly our backstop defense.
