Have been a diehard fan of Dallas Stars since they were the Minnesota North Stars. Mike Modano will always be my #1!

Ipswich Town FC (soccer) in England. Stationed in the UK 72-76 with very little Aggie or any US sports coverage over there at the time. So I followed the local pro soccer team. Really fell in love with it when my neighbor took me to a Ipswich top tier soccer game and we stood in the terraces. No place to sit and surrounded by a bunch or super rowdy (and drunk) soccer hooligans Downed a few Carlsberg drafts before and after the game. Still follow them. No more terraces in English soccer stadiums. Became too rowdy and had a fire at one of the stadiums where over a100 people were killed.

That's awesome. I am a big fan of English soccer but have never been to a game.

Fire was at Bradford City. Crush was at Sheffield in an FA Cup Semi final. Both of those instances ended the terrace experience.

Still find them in South America.

Wichita State Shockers.

Full disclosure... I attended a Summer session at WSU in '87 when my folks lived in Wichita.

I attended one Shocker baseball game ... Eric Wedge was the catcher (he went on to play and manage in the majors.

The Shockers won the College World Series maybe one or two seasons later.

Their field had a weird configuration ... natural grass infield and artificial turf outfield (or was it vice versa?)

Also saw a couple pro minor league games in Wichita... the Pilots. Not sure what they're called now.

In 1999 I visited New Zealand.

Flight from Auckland to Christchurch.

As I de-planed, I walked through this throng of press, media.

Turns out there were quite a few All Blacks players on the plane.... they had just played in the Rugby World Cup in France (?). Believe they just lost the 3rd place match.

Shuttle transport to my hotel had 2 or 3 players and their spouses. These dudes were so down-to-earth. No entourages, no headphones on to block out the unwashed masses... just going back to their regular lives, working.

I bought an official All Blacks jersey in Auckland... still have it... still fits... still wear it occasionally. .

Now that is a great story. You are right though, those guys are just grinders and tough as nails. Going to an All Blacks game at their home field is definitely on my bucket list. You are too lucky.

I'm so sad Houston lost its rugby team. That was super cool while it lasted.

Good to know. I'm still kind of figuring out the NHL. Don't know who I'm gonna root for next year, but I do like the mammoths.

I actually kind of liked the Pittsburgh Penguins too. Watched a few of their games.

I don't root for them, but I think one of the weirdest mascots is the Richmond Spiders.

I don't really have too much of an issue with spiders, as long as they're not too big and gross, more so snakes, but still don't think I would want them as my mascot.

I like the coach from Murray State after their run last year I watch them from time to time

Vegas is the only NHL team to be given special accommodations allowing them to take a certain number of top players from every NHL team in their first year. They were built to win at the expense of everyone else. No other team ever had that advantage.

We live in Nashville and love our home town team. I used to be a big Stars fan until we moved here and ended up with season tickets.

Worst fans: Avalanche are up there, NY Rangers, Toronto, Vegas. Toronto mostly because they are mean to their own team - entitled.
