The Boll Weevils of the University of Arkansas Monticello

It was The Boll Weevils of Piedmont but was renamed the Intimidators so I had to move on

I still wear the team cap from time to time however

The Biloxi Shuckers are a follow for me as well. I fish out of Biloxi quite a bit and try to attend a game when The schedules align. This is actually a neat minor league park.

Boll Weevils! Incredible!

However, I looked it up. The women's teams are called the Cotton Blossoms instead? Not cool. Not cool.

If one understands what a boll weevil does to the results of a cotton blossom " a cotton boll" that is really strange.

Several years ago, we played Long Beach State in baseball. They are called the Dirtbags. I got such a kick out of their name that I bought a t-shirt.

my dad's team is the Yankees as well because of being able to hear them on the radio and all the players back then. My mom's team growing up was the cubbies.

I am a eternal Yanks fan because of Reggie Jackson. I grew up loving Mr October and Reggie Bars!

Right now the Scottish national team in the World Cup. It's been fun to see their fans in the US on social media. (Also I'm 12% Scottish)

My dad went there. I have bought plenty a Dirt Bag hat for him for Christmas/birthdays over the years.

My semi-random root is SMU, I went there my freshman year before transferring into A&M.

Cameroon for soccer. I played a lot of soccer growing up and several of my club teammates were kids of faculty or grad students from there.

MLB- I'll always have a fondness from my youth for the Cubs & Braves thanks to them always being on TV when I was a kid on WGN with Harry Carey or TBS.

College baseball there's a bunch of mid-majors who were really good when I was a kid that I always pull for- Wichita State, Creighton, Pepperdine, and Long Beach are the main ones.

I've always liked Rice. As a school and they were fun to watch play baseball in the 2000s as a kid growing up in Houston.

I've been hoping they get competitive again and I used to go to a couple of rice games per year when I was younger

I don't know if it's changed back but Rice used to give some consideration on admissions to baseball. They took that away at the end of Graham's run and for the whole time Bragga and Cruz were there.

I've heard they're loosening that but don't know for sure. I do know there's a sizable contingent of faculty, administration, and alumni who think Rice should not be trying to compete at the D1 level or give athletic scholarships because they want to be like the Ivies.

Not sure how it happened, but lately I've found myself with a soft spot for Williams in F1

Great history, great success in the past.
But man, they've been terrible for a long long time now.

Yet on the past few years, huge strides….and clearly making the hires and committing the resources and efforts to legitimately improve.

There was a year in the '90s where the football team had a graduation rate of 86%, and the faculty freaked out, because how prestigious of an academic school could they be if idiot football players could graduate?

Which is beyond stupid because it's way harder to get in there than it is to graduate or flunk out.

And even my teammates there who couldn't have gotten in without being a jock (like me) were all still pretty damn smart. The average Rice student is the embodiment of "smart in the classroom, dumb in the bus." Just nothing whatsoever in the way of social skills or general awareness.

I don't necessarily root for the Steelers but I've always like watching them play. They're still throwback football- hard-nosed D and committed to running the football. I like that.

They were under Tomlin.

Hiring Mike McCarthy is honestly the first stupid head coach hire I've seen them make in my lifetime.

Been a Lions fan since Dan Campbell took over. Believed in them even during that first disastrous season. Such a fun team to watch.

Also always had a soft spot for TCU. My first elementary we were the Horned Frogs and started my love for sports there. I actually wanted to go there as a wee lad.

I recently become a fan of the Utah Mammoths in the NHL. I got into the hockey during the Olympics and then started watching some of the regular season hockey and a lot of the Stanley playoffs.

I mean, what a great mascot.

I did enjoy watching the Vegas Golden Knights team as well.

Vegas has a good logo too.
