I hope that Travis is horrified and embarrassed by his mom's behavior. And I feel sorry for him in general in having to deal with this type of overly involved baseball parent.

These parents are all over in the US throughout travel ball. But Travis is what? 25 years old now?

And Mommy is coming to the rescue once again? Maybe Earley should consider her for the pitching caoch as she clearly is more experienced and knowledgeable than most others?

Sorry Ags but this is the type of behavior I freaking HATE as a travel ball coach. And these parents aren't helping their kids in the long run. Feel for Travis but also seems a bit like a cry baby considering some history, too.

The good news? Complete reset into next year and no more Mommy Chestnut to deal with. Good riddens and I hate saying that but this crap doesn't belong at A&M.

Earley haters....bring it. Lol.

I feel sorry for any college athlete whose parents take their battles public. I hope Travis has an Aggie degree and a plan for what to do with it.

Honestly, my opinion of her was formed when she was throwing her tantrum over the past year or two over him not getting a 6th (?) Year of eligibility.

Im honestly surprised he was accepted as a transfer back after that, but definitely not surprised she is finding reasons her son wasnt the best on the team again and blaming coaches.

If only all baseball parents could be like Montgomery's mom..

Edit- Amy has taken to social media and is commenting on every news outlet that has picked this up. It isnt pretty and a lot of people are commenting that they wonder how this will affect Travis getting a job in the real world, as employers may worry his mom will come fight his battles at work.

It's really unfortunate. Travis seemed to have embraced his role on this year's team and was great at it. From everything we have heard, he was just grateful to still be playing ball for another year and not sitting in a cubicle somewhere. Very strange that his mom has a different viewpoint.

He said she said. Little to gain either time doing this just last time everyone hated that coach so it was cheered. Unless Travis himself says something who cares. Same as for the last staff.

Yikes, not the best way to handle that. All the best for Trav. Looks like there is a learning experience for everyone on this one.

She thinks she has successfully manipulated everything for her son. So she is doubling down because she just realized it didn't work.

I don't like airing grievances publicly. Think it's a bad look. But she undoubtedly has more inside knowledge about the program and how it operates than anyone else here. I think there are a lot of unanswered questions about the baseball leadership. Hope I'm wrong, but I don't have a lot of confidence.

Keep in mind, this is just her side of things. It could be be 100% truth to pure fabrication.

Agree. The truth is likely somewhere in the middle. But it does kind of jive with what my (non expert) eyes tell me about management of the program, in game and otherwise.

So a mom rants about her son and that jives with what your eyes tell you about the management of the program? Never mind that Chestnut was not an SEC caliber player. He did have a purpose on this team and it was situational. Lay down a bunt to advance runners, pinch run and late inning defense and he did that well. For anyone to think otherwise is absurd. Hell, I liked the grit of Chestnut, but a lot of players have grit that don't get a lot or any playing time on SEC squads.

She also ranted about Schloss. Which everyone was fine with on here but not now. Go figure.

Also, i am 99% sure she came on here to find a lawyer to help bring him back to A&M

Well she mentioned other things that were not related to her son. Those are the things that jive with what I have observed. Indecision, in game strategy etc. I'm not starting a fight dude. Just saying she has more insight than most of us here. Maybe more than even you?

The stuff she said about Penny was interesting. If we could do a poll on who we would rather have at HC that was HONEST and not swayed by concern of shining a bad light on the existing HC, my guess is the results would be telling.

Most definitely more than me. However, every coach has indecision and every coach has different strategies. I think she just has sour grapes. When parents start complaining, it's a very bad look.

Penny is my all time favorite player.....but we can't go the assistant route again.

Where? Read the Aggie Wire article and the X post contained within and did not see Penny mentioned.

I agree that she has more insight into the program than anyone on here. That doesn't mean her perspective is accurate -- she wasn't at practice or in the dugout. Everything she knows is still from the outside looking in, just a little closer than us plus whatever Travis and his buddies vented about. But she doesn't have direct knowledge.

Agree. But my thought was she hears from a lot of players. That seems potentially insightful. Ranting publicly doesn't really lend a ton of credibility though. I just think it's interesting.

The primary gist of any argument against Earley is he is not ready to be a head coach of a premier college baseball program. I don't disagree with that assessment. I believe he will grow into one but not sure if I'm willing for A&M to be the stop in which he learns those lessons. I love me some Penny, easily in my Top 5 of all time favorite Aggie players, but he has even less coaching experience than Mike. If A&M opts to part ways with Earley we should not hire another coach still learning all the ins and outs of being a coach at the highest levels of college ball. Again I'll reiterate, I love me some Penny and I'm very happy he is here as an assistant.

Travis was decent in 2024 and got a lot of playing time.

He was not very good in 2026 and was given every opportunity to play even when he didn't deserve it based on results.

She's probably tempering what Travis told her in moments of frustration, doesn't mean she has a complete picture. Eyewitness testimony is only as accurate as the human testifying, which as I'm sure you know can be heavily biased.

my mom is the overprotective over bearing type. she always has stuck her nose into things that I never asked her to about things that I discussed with her. I love my mom but there is a reason I'm not that close with her anymore. it strangles a person to be treated as a child long after the point they should be.

Definitely interesting, for sure. I just tend to filter that through the likelihood that she heard from boys in their early 20s in moments of frustration. Negativity is always more engaging and memorable than positivity.
