I want maximum separation in the standings for us, so to me that means

UGA win
tu loss
Ole miss loss
UF loss
Aubie loss

Those aren't updated yet, right? We're 18-11 now and done on conference. The next anyone below us can do is get to 18-12 which would still put them behind us. I've been working outside and sweating my ass off since 8am but looks to me like we're locked into the 3 line and could move to 2 if Mizzou gets their **** together.

And don't think that them getting handed Mizzou at home the last weekend was just some happy accident. Basically zero chance they wouldn't sweep. Nice little get right series to end the year just in case things had gone sideways for them this year (which it hasn't)

We were gifted that same scenario last year, no? And we just said f it, let's lose all 3.

Sean is correct. We're ahead of all the other potential 18 game winners by either percentage or h2h in the case of tu

checking in with a couple of College Station regional regulars...

TCU (33-20) finishes the regular season at RPI #39 -- went 17-13 in the BDF

Lafayette (34-21) finishes the regular season at RPI #40 -- went 16-14 in the Sun Belt with series wins over USM and Coastal

if the committee could send both to the Ags' regional they would. It should be one or the other as the 3-seed

We're locked into a first game of Friday at this point which is great for the M*A*S*H unit.

At this point, just bring on whomever. It's not likely that we have enough pitching to do much damage but maybe the lineup will bash our way through. Not sure anyone has every won a Regional going opener, opener, opener in each game. Our staff is going to have to trust someone to get more than two innings in the first half of a game. ..and we can't count on Corn to get that last 3 innings each game either. Bond and Powell (and maybe Vincent) will have to play a role.

The challenge for us this year is going to be staying in the winners bracket. To me this is why winning this weekend was so important, because hopefully it means we get a matchup we can handle in the first game. I mean we still might get someone that has an ace but I like our chances much much better as a 7 or 8 as opposed to a 13 or 14.

Ags will have to go the 2022 route

won its 3 regional games by scores of 8-2, 9-6, and 15-9

Ok…I think an A&M-Texas super regional is still in play.

First, we aren't getting a national seed unless we win the SECT, and that might not even do it. National seeds will be:

SEC (3) - UGA, Texas, and Auburn or Bama

ACC (3) - GT, UNC, and FSU

B1G (2) - UCLA and SC or Nebraska

Other hosts will be Bama/Auburn (whoever doesn't get the national seed), USC/NU (whoever doesn't get the national seed), Florida, A&M, Miss. State, So. Miss (gotta have a mid-major host), Oregon State, and probably WVU (gotta have a B12) team host.

Would not surprise me to see something like:

(1) UCLA vs. (16) Oregon St.
(2) GT vs. (15) USM
(3) UNC vs. (14) WVU
(4) UGA vs. (13) Miss. State
(5) Texas vs. (12) A&M
(6) Bama vs. (11) Nebraska
(7) FSU vs. (10) Florida
(8) USC vs. (9) Auburn

It's that time of year when we all forget there's a very real difference between SEC lineups and the rest of the country. Someone is going to get Ole Miss as a 2-seed. The same Ole Miss that has 18 Quad 1/2 wins including 8 wins against RPI top 12 teams. The vast majority of the country doesn't play 8 games against RPI top 12 teams. This league prepares you for regionals in a way the other leagues don't. Doesn't mean we always win our regionals but it's not because we got to that weekend and saw something we weren't prepared for.

Our pitching is going to look a little better in two weeks than it's looked the past 10 and the other staffs will look a little worse. Supers might be a bit different but in a best of 3 we're fine.

USC isn't getting a top 8 seed. They are 1-9 in Quad 1 games and 9-10 in 1/2 games. 36 of their games were against 3-4 opponents and their best series win is RPI 54 Purdue. Theyre currently in extra innings in game 3 against Oregon for what would be their first series win against a team that will actually make a regional. They're a product of piling up wins against a weak schedule. Nebraska has a stronger case than SC by a lot. At least they've played a reasonable schedule and have a 9-7 Q1 record.

Nebraska didn't play UCLA

which hurts the perception of their season a bit

the Huskers top 3 series wins:

#8 USC
#52 Michigan
#62 Iowa

it seems like the B1G did some RPI gaming this year...

to have 4 teams in the top 20 and 3 of them have underwhelming resumes

Bama, FSU and SCw are not getting a national seed and I think it's unlikely Nebraska gets one, either.

don't know if it is or not

sidenote...if Oregon win the finale vs. USC...that would give the Ducks' a second quality series win

and probably the 15th or 16th host

Bama has been Jeckyl and Hyde this year with sweeps of South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Auburn and Florida then getting swept by Kentucky and Arkansas. That Kentucky sweep is hard to defend.

FSU has a great ACC record and a few nice series wins. I won't be surprised if they get one but Kendall thinks they're around 11.

SCw piled up wins against terrible teams and is 1-9 against Q1 opponents. Their best series win is RPI 54 Purdue who isn't making a regional.
