Yeah I noticed this re: Vandy yesterday. Nearly time to start paying attention to RPI but woof that is pretty bad a the halfway mark. We need this series bigly for both counting reasons and RPI.

this weekend is Vanderbilt's 4th trip to Blue Bell Park

and the Commodores are just 2-7 in College Station

lost series at BBP in 2016, 2019, and 2024 (swept)

the Ags have shut out Vandy 5 times in the 9 meetings at Blue Bell

this will be Vandy's first trip as an unranked team

the Commodores are the only SEC team that has never won a series at BBP/Olsen

and for a midseason 2007 comparison...

after 28 games...Childress' second-year team was also 23-5 having won a midweek game vs. TCU in game #28

the '07 Ags were 3-3 in Big 12 play at this point -- with three top 10 non-conference wins (2 vs. Rice and 1 vs. Oregon State) on their resume

for games 29, 30, and 31...the #14 Ags hosted Nebraska at Olsen. Luke Anders won the series with a walk-off single on Sunday

We really do need it badly.....very badly. Win two of three and we'll drop close to 100 RPI points....that's crazy.

After this weekend, we have upcoming series vs RPI teams ranked # 1, 4, 5, 6 and 12 and that doesn't count a road trip to the Box.

Critical that our conference record is 7-5 at worst when we wake up on Easter Sunday.

what happened to the theory that NIL would keep good pitchers in college longer

that doesn't seem to be the case at all

suddenly the SEC has a dearth of pitching

maybe MLB took note and said we're not going to let that happen

There's still lots of good pitching in college ball…just not in the SEC. What NIL has done is spread out the talent from coast to coast. We're seeing it in other sports as well. The days of the SEC dominating may not be over, but it's at least on pause.
