Baseball is the great equalizer and it's still too early in the season to get a feel for how things will shake out
They have alot of talent as usual and they have an outstanding coach. Fully expect them to be a strong contender for Omaha.

Too early to tell. Offense has sputtered the last 4 games as the poster above stated. The 4 games prior to that they smoked three P4 schools plus Kent St. They've also been without their leadoff hitter Stanfield since game 2.
LSU has a long history of slow starts, then going to Omaha.
Crawfish season just started so when baseball gets their fill, they usually start their run.

LSU baseball faithful are not happy. Lot of ball to play but they look like garbage against "inferior" competition right now.

They lost to Sacramento St this evening.
They may be exactly like we were last year. Coming into the season at the top after finishing the previous year with a championship game 3 appearance. Doesn't take a lot to change a team in an offseason.
And Sac St had a 3-9 record. Their rpi is no. 204.

Even though the first two losses to scrubs weren't enough to move LSU down from the No. 2 ranking you have to think two more bad losses this week (so far) might be enough to do the trick.
Losses to McNeese, Northeastern, UL-Lafayette, and Sac. State - 3 of which were home games. 25% of the games they've played have been losses to those guys.
It's fun no matter how I phrase it.

It's the SEC Post-Championship Jinx. We should've won two years ago which is why we got the jinx instead of Tenn.
I expect them to have year like Florida seems to have quite frequently. Middle of the road regular season and turn it on in May.

Aren't they now a roster that is fully due to Jonhnson and not Mineri?

Hard to read TOOO much into these stats, as they are OOC stats only. But, LSU is last in the conference in team ERA. Last in the conference in team fielding percentage and 3 last in the conference in team BA.
Lsu is currently 137 in RPI with 4 quad 4 losses and, including, a series quad 4 loss. They have dug themselves a legitimate hole. To put this into perspective, since 2020, A&M has 6 quad 4 losses total.

Dropping 11 places is a big drop for baseball rankings which typically move slowly, but it should have been bigger. No way have they earned a #13 rankingnat this point.
David needs to press Kendall on LSU's ranking . I know they will get things figured out , at some point, but they have no business at 13 .

The SEC seems to have sorted out where LSU is in their standings based on season results to date.

They treated us similarly. We went from #1 to #14 between weeks 2 and 3 last season. Then 14 to 19, and then out of the rankings altogether.

Well yes because they do the polls week to week. If LSU goes 2-2 or 1-3 this week they will drop to around 20-25 and then out of the polls they go if they continue losing. Basically treating them exactly like they did us in 2025.
