Strange they are playing a Tuesday and Wednesday game against OU and then the Amegy Classic over the weekend. I get getting games in when you can, but 5 games in 6 days seems a bit odd/dangerous from a health POV this early in the season.

Teams do this quite a bit when traveling. Might as well get in some good road games along the way. Norman to Arlington makes sense and this'll be a good RPI boost for them... playing 5 games against 4 SEC teams away from home here in non-conference. Especially out in Arizona, they don't have a huge variety to pick from for Tuesday games like we do.

I saw they aren't playing any midweek games next week to make up for it.

They should be good and tired by Sunday then

Hopefully they have a few extra inning games in there as well and burn through all their pitching.

I always thought it was odd that playing 5 games in a week isn't more common.

If you drop one of the first two games in the regionals, then you have to play 5 games in 4 days to survive.

If you drop one of the first two games in the CWS, then you have to play 5 games in 6 days (or 7 days depending on which side of the bracket you are on). You can end up playing 8 games in 10 days at the CWS.

We are going to go the entire year never playing more than 3 days in a row and never playing more than 4 games in a week. Then comes tournament time...

It does make great stories lines and great TV watching someone who hasn't really pitched much for that team step up and have an incredible outing to get their team past the regionals. It just seems odd that we don't prepare for that at all during the season.

They've played a weak schedule so far so I don't know what to make of them. They swept UCONN which won 3 of 4 at Tucson over the weekend.

LSU played 5 games in 6 days to start the year off. Good way to find out who you can trust on the pitching staff by throwing everyone before the real competition starts.

Tuesday afternoon doubleheaders were an early season staple back in the days of the 60 game schedule.

Remember…Arizona State is in the Big 12 now. They need an RPI boost wherever they can get it. Their B12 slate is:

TCU
at K-State
West Virginia
at Arizona
Utah
at BYU
Baylor
at Central Florida
Oklahoma State
at Houston

It is not at all that unusual early in the season for teams have a 5 game week. This season is the first time I can ever recall A&M not having at least one scheduled five game week and I've been following Aggie baseball since I was a Frosh. In the '80s/early '90s A&M hosted the Aggie Classic in which each team played six games in a four day stretch (Two scheduled 9 inning games & 4 scheduled 7 inning games).

Arizona State, in spite of its history, is more a hockey school than baseball school now. They have a beautiful on campus hockey arena and have to play baseball off campus.

I've heard of the Kentucky Waterfall, the Mississippi Mudflap, the North Carolina Neck Warmer, the Cajun Cascade, and the Tennessee Top Hat...but I've never heard one for Arizona. Surely they've come up with a regional mullet nickname, haven't they?

One of my golf buddies has season tickets right on the glass so I go with him pretty often. The Mullett family funded the move from club to D1 and paid for the arena located on campus. ASU baseball plays at Phoenix Municipal Stadium which is just okay and not on campus. The girls that sweep the ice during time outs are worth the price of admission.

I hardly ever go to ASU baseball but go to ASU hockey a lot. They're in a conference with mostly North Dakota, Minnesota and Michigan schools so other team's fans love making the trip.
