Doesn't seem like we have the depth there either. Both of them aren't the best hitters already

We have a few hitters at the top but overall it's not a good lineup. We got spoiled last year and then pulled an all time choke and haven't recovered.

I think we are still asleep! Doesn't bode well for tomorrow's start.

I certainly don't think you're alone in that feeling. I think part of the issue was last year we relied a lot on Emiley Kennedy. I think she threw almost twice the number of innings as the 2nd most used pitcher alone. We used her a starter, in relief and she was often the one to come in as soon as things started going south (and rightfully so). So I think trying to figure out who to bring in when is going to take some adjustments. I'm also wondering if Ford is leaving the pitchers in a bit longer than she would in a conference or post season game to give them experience in tough situations. As frustrating as this weekend has been so far I think it will only help us in the long run. If our pitchers can settle in and become more confident as the season goes on we'll be fine

Perez K was as bad as it gets three pitches to a pitcher from Incarnate word.

Okay, now that everyone has ranted. Here's something I talked about in my video.

1. Crucial to get ahead of OSU in the count, we didn't, and they made us pay, as they do to everybody who does it to them

2. Taylor is a 2 pitch pitcher, so she has to be in for an inning or a matchup only

3. Against the drop and the curve, way too many rollovers and swing and misses, not driving up the middle, opposite field

4. Pitch calling sequences struggled majorly today

Last, you give up free passes to GOOD teams, they will make you PAY

agree that our pitchers just do not have shut down capability when necessary. unless there is a fireball kid lurking on bench who can deliver our team from poor situations, it's looking a tough upcoming season.perhaps our pitchers can control pitches low not high and fat and have decent control in strike zone.

as disconcerting as today was from our team, I think I am more upset with the commentary on this site. Too many names I hadn't seen on this site. If you fit the bill maybe you should chill a bit or go back to Premium. It is early in the season, there are numerous new faces on this roster and the Clearwater Tourney isn't for the timid. Jeez.i

Most unsurprising thing ever if so. People said it during/after the portal when we didn't get any legit ace pitchers, despite the users here who attacked those critics. Pitcher is literally most important like QB's.

What commentary are you upset about specifically? Honestly interested.

While we did score today, I think some lineup changes are in order. It is great to score via the long ball. However, we have not been scoring runs with a regular stream of pressure with good ABs and base runners. It felt like we demoralized teams with that in previous years.

Ideas:
- break up the bottom of the order
- move AK down into more of a run driving in spot
- figure out where Dement needs to be to get her going

Nothing negative just factual its early yes but pitching was a problem last year, situational hitting and base running mistakes still happening. Strikeout to a pitcher from Incarnate word and yes we choked last season and it still looks like we are in a fog/comma from that big time choke.

Pitching was certainly disappointing today but I am not ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Peters has shown when healthy she can pitch against any lineup in the country. I think Lessentine will come along. I always thought of Pannell as a closer 1 to 2 inning type pitcher and she should thrive in that role. Figuring out how the rest of the staff fits in will take a few more weekends. I am sure the coaches would like to have a 3rd starter but they might not in the end.

Today was disappointing and certainly puts a lot more on the teams shoulders for the next 9 games. Next week was always tougher than this week. Now it is more important to get those wins

Not deserving of current ranking. Lots of improvement needed if this team is going to be competitive in the SEC.

This a good test for us and it shows we've got a lot to work on to get our mojo back.

My bad, looks like they both had a hit in game 1 yesterday. However, through both games they are a combined 2 for 16. Need more from them, especially in the 4 and 5 hole.

Interested to see if Ford messes with the lineup today....
