We all know that Jimbo's buyout impacted things with swinging Jim and at a minimum delayed the renovation of BBP.

Does BK's firing impact LSU baseball? At a minimum I would think it hurts their nil funds.

Nah, they'll just embezzle more from Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital like they used to.

No. They care about baseball at LSU.

Won't even cause a blip on the baseball radar. They'll just increase ticket prices in their 100,000 seat football facility.

It won't impact NIL. That's a different pot of money. Their baseball culture is strong, so I think they will have no trouble getting businesses to back baseball NIL regardless of what they are doing on football. Furthermore, baseball NIL is chump change compared to football.

Where it might impact them is on making capital improvements to the Box. They went cheap when they built that place, and its starting to show. The fans are always begging for improvements, but with revenue sharing and buyouts to fund, I don't see them doing anything but keeping pace with player facilities unless someone writes a big check just because they love baseball.

Shocking that Kelly agreed to 27 million instead of his contract price of 54 million. Huge win for LSU.

No, it means there was some smoke regarding his firing and neither party wanted to take a chance of the information/incident getting it out in the open causing harm to both parties.

I was not aware of any recent nefarious activities by Kelly. If true, it must have been big considering he gave up 27 million.

He gave up very little. Present value of his payments over time would only be $33 million. Apply some further discount for what he could earn taking a new job (and complying with his duty to mitigate) and you can easily get to $27 million.

Not to mention the contract as stated was practically unenforceable.

I tend to believe this.

A couple years ago, we had a frequent guest player on my kid's baseball team. Guest player's dad said he "had a cup of coffee" as an LSU football player.

Dunno if he had inside knowledge, was a big donor or knew big donors. He basically asserted that - as soon as NIL came online - there was a concerted effort by LSU to get NIL going for its baseball program.

I can't speak to what all their baseball players are getting but knowing a couple kids who were freshmen there last year and the baseline for baseball players was like $150K per year in NIL. Straight-up pay-for-play.

LSU firing Woodward and turning into a complete dumpster fire could end up being bad for their baseball even if they still have some money.

LSU became a baseball power during a stretch where their football program generally sucked. If anything, the lack of success in football caused the fan base to become more invested in the success of the baseball team.
