Well, I'm not prepared to talk about the baseball program right now. Obviously, they just got done playing in Hoover, and we had these meetings here in Destin, so I've had a little bit of communication with Michael, but I'd love to get back to college station, sit down with him, and sort of recap. I think it's good to spend a little time, both he and I, as we asses the situation.
Obviously, he would tell you the exact same thing, we had some eyes on baseball, and clearly we fell short, it was a frustrating season, and disappointing on a lot of different levels, but at the appropriate time, we'll be able to talk about baseball.

There's always an economic factor to making decisions, but I can assure you in this situation, those decisions are not being driven economically, we'll do what we think is the best long term interest of our baseball program, and our athletic department.

I was critical of Trev earlier today, but I think he nailed this. If he nails the hire, a lot of things that I see as early failures will be forgiven.
Gosh that's heavy political talk. Say something but not really say something. It does not sound like a vote of confidence though. Also does not give me great feelings that we are lining up other outcomes.

I had issues and concerns with how the last search was conducted, you didn't. Agree to disagree and let's see how good he really is with this search.

I think he nailed being as transparent as an AD can in those clips.
Ok, I'm good with that one but I also understand why they did what they did. I definitely had concerns with the hire from the start but I'm not sure who we could get with the bad timing.

It must be a) letting the scumbag get away and b) hiring Earley. Of course a) wasn't avoidable and b) was endorsed by probably 90% of posters at the time. The only hire he conducted under normal circumstances was basketball and I thought he did a great job there. Bucky had to build a roster from scratch from day 1 and appears to have done a great job of it.

He might have had the ability but the whole not talking with more than one head coach is a bigger issue.
I dont have all the details but at least the grapevine says that there were disagreements between AD and coaches to the point of failure. That's concerning because at some point your position and employer is more important than your personal interactions. In fact, your job is to manage coaches, create, build and foster relationships.
It's his job to answer in such a way that nobody can draw a definitive conclusion. There is no reason to over analyze it.
That's not how it went down with Schloss. Schloss was leaving. Thats why there was no discussion. Schloss avoiding him.

Not going to split hairs but that seems to be very clear writing on the walls and from my perspective, we were not well prepared for it. If I knew my head coach, who just took us to new heights, was in open rebellion then I have all my ducks in a row instead of getting beat up by that same ahole leaving
Agreed. As for the "economic component" comment, it's not like he could say "We'd love to fire him but the boosters are all tapped out after loading up the NIL budget last year, so we'll have to wait it out." Which means he was talking to CDC long before that one. He probably started talking to him as soon as the Army AD was not hired. Which is the start of the affair.
See I took the economic comment differently. Like it would not stop them from doing what is best long term.
When you are getting cheated on. Of course there are signs. But you don't want to believe them.
And Trev basically asked him if he was looking around(cheating). And like all cheaters that get caught acted like he had no idea what he was talking about. And started playing the victim.

One thing becomes clearer with each passing day, it is likely not O'Connor. With Virginia not making a regional, there would be no need to wait to announce the hire. Either his agent is playing MSU against A&M or he has turned one or both down.

lol. Hiring Earley wasn't in the best interest of the program and you did that anyway Trev. Let them all transfer and hire a good coach.

I think I'll wait another 2-3 days before I rule him out.

State thinks he stays put
If he thought Earley was returning he would have said something about looking forward to improvement in year 2 or something. Not the place to answer that question directly though.
