He leads the team in nearly every offensive category. If he can swing he's absolutely better than the next man up.

1. It can always get worse.
2. It is very painful and I do not want to see him in pain. (This is more of a me thing, I know.)

All fair points. I think if he feels like he can handle the pain, that part is entirely his choice.

No, I imagine he won't be as effective as a fully healthy Jace. But a less than 100% Jace is still probably better at DH than anyone else we can put there.

If he can't be productive get someone else in there that's at 100%. He hasn't been productive lately anyway.

You can't just replace a player with some vague, non-existent person who doesn't exist. If you have a serious idea of who should replace Jace, pick a name. If not, you aren't making a serious argument in the first place.

Two RBI with a broken hand ... seems like he's got a solid approach tonight!

Jace proved me wrong, which doesn't surprise as he's a gamer. But his approach tonight was totally different than his approach to all previous games. He went to the plate trying to move the line forward and it proved productive as he had a hit and two RBI. He's been trying to do too much this season--you can't hit six-run homeruns with the bases empty.

This season will be remembered for a lot of things (almost all bad), but I'm pretty sure years from now people will be talking about Jace's performance tonight. I wish it had resulted in a W, but his effort is remarkable regardless of the result.
