Obviously a train wreck this year, but I will be waiting to hear what actually caused all this. It will normally come out 6 months or so after the season when players have left the program. Something had to of occurred. Talent like this WITH experience, just doesn't sheat the bed like we did.

Baseball is different.... huge part of this game is mental.... it could just be a story of slumping & poor execution


Ultimately though it's the HCs job to get these kids to calm the **** down & play loose



For a guy heralded as the supreme players coach the kids seem wound awfully tight

Buddy of mine has a theory that the entire team hated Schloss so much that it unified them last season. I think he may be on to something. No common villan, not as much unity this year.

So are the #1 ranked longhorns also unified in their hate? Just a question.

against Tennessee, Carolina, and Arkansas...they didn't care and didn't press

against Alabama, Vandy, Kentucky, t.u., and Mizzou...I don't know

Player's coaches don't necessarily equate to results, accountability creates results. It's been proven time and time again.

I've never heard anyone claim that any team in any sport ever made it farther than any other team in program history because of how much they hated their own coach. But it's a funny suggestion.

We already know. The players chose an unqualified head coach. What's wild is they are publicly doing it again.

I think when Sorrell returned, it jolted the lineup and we started hitting really well. Even in the UK series, we were swinging the bat. That hot streak continued until we went to Austin and reverted back to what we had been for the majority of this season.

We have been a very poor hitting team for 9/13 weekends this year.

Have to be.

I like this theory because it doesn't give Schloss credit for anything other than being a jackass.

We are a poorly coached, undisciplined team. It's really not that hard to figure out. Too many rudimentary mistakes for it to be anything else. We've mismanaged the pitching staff, had horrible defensive positioning, put together questionable batting orders, thrown to the wrong base, bunted when we shouldn't have bunted, not bunted when we should have bunted, and played lazy baseball far too often this season. It starts at the top and has trickled down…and it makes me sad.

I think it's very possible our coaches are just this bad at handling expectations, making in game adjustments, and adjusting to set backs

As insane as the above sounds, I am now starting to go, "Hmmm???"

Talented teams regardless of coaching win. Why i think there must be a locker room issue. Schloss always had the mentality of, if you dont perform you'll be replaced. That's no longer the case. I'm guessing the next debacle will be us getting destroyed in the portal.

Very competitive against great teams. Not as competitive against bad teams. Not sure I've seen a team like this before

Let's just hope that A&M is never ranked #1 Preseason EVER again.

I think we've got a first year head coach with a resume to be seen assistant coach at a major program looking for a has coach position at a JuCo or smaller school program.

I think Earley is a great guy and probably has a wealth of potential, but right now he's over his head experience wise.

So the question is do we hang on and give home some time, or cut him loose? Open 2 has two consequences, first being any new coach knows you're willing to cut after one year and that will drastically limit options, and second potentially watching the coach you canned mature up and take your opponents to Omaha over and over and over

Agreed. SOMETHING … or a number of things … happened to and /or within this team and the coaches. The epic meltdown we've seen this year cannot be explained any other way. Whatever the cause, the players are and have been in periodic funks that cannot be or have not been remedied.

Don't overthink it. Earley is not SEC head coaching material, It's that simple.

I can think of every Jimbo team off the top of my head.

Baseball is such a mental game - it has to be for a sport built on failure and resiliance. To me the value of a good coach is keeping the team in a good mental state and leadership. I'm a huge Cubs fan and Joe Madden was a genious at this.

We know there was talent - we went 6-6 agaisnt teams ranked #1 or #2.....that absolutely doesn't happen without talent.....but this team would then turn around and play down to the other opponents.

They tightened up everytime they got pushed into a corner. Then something external would spark them (Sorrell came back, they got no-hit run ruled, got swept by sips) and they'd reinvigorated but they couldn't do it consistantly without that external motivation. They didn't do it from within.

That is the leadership that was missing.

Something is definitely going on.

Maybe it's just nerves. Maybe it's coaching. Idk.

The streakiness of the team is perplexing.

I'm super curious to know what is going on.

I think the team didn't hit near well enough. Simple as that plus couldn't develop enough arms in the pen. Plus a lot of bad managing by a first year head coach.

The locker room is probably too fine if you ask me. Maybe way too comfortable in there.

When it comes out, if it ever does, it will be presented as something that was known all along but couldn't be reported. And that changes have been made and we are now back to being a contender.

Regardless, these players are good enough and know enough about baseball to make the tournament without a coach. There's got to be something brewing in the background.

a player getting $10k to $20k -- okay, doesn't change anyone or anything

but players getting $50k to $100k to $200k to $500k creates problems -- individually and collectively

Its not a problem at LSU or Tennesee, etc.

I think that plays into my same line of thinking from my above post....its manageable but its part of the leadership we didnt see....and its not going away.

As some have said here, I'm sure there are a lot of little things but the most glaring thing is just a woefully inexperienced and unqualified head coach. A strong hc handles a lot of the little stuff that comes up and keeps the team in a good place mentally through the ups and downs. That is the overwhelming reason this team performed the way it did. If there was more player leadership, I think the results wouldn't have been as bad but it seems pretty clear that the real team leaders - presumably Braden, all left after last year. There were rumors about some on the team early in the season maybe partying a little too much and not being focused in non conf, not quite sure if some guys really needed to sit out fall camp either, and I'm sure if any of that was true it could easily set a bad vibe in the locker room with all the new guys coming in. Seems at least plausible with Earley who's not going to be a big disciplinarian with at least part of a team that just help land him the gig. Anyway, I'm sure a decent amount of that goes on every season and is whipped into shape pretty quickly with a strong hc - something we clearly didn't have.

Several of our big NIL players **** the bed this year. That said, Earley was unable to maximize the talent he had. He failed, plain and simple. So did Trev and Gen Welsh. They presided over this woeful year of men's sports and epitomize the pervasive culture that A&M is not serious about winning.

I don't know for a fact but the way the players pushed for Earley last summer and even the comments they made basically proclaimed him as " one of the guys "

A coach has to be a coach first and can't be buddy buddy with the players.
I'm led to believe by things I have seen this year there is very little discipline within the program, very little accountability.
That's what you get with a young inexperienced head coach who looks more like a friend to the players than a coach.
I would say he is the guy hanging out with players on the road in the lobbies or in a room playing video games with them.
Just doesn't work when trying to lead a program in the toughest conference In America.

Overhyped players, what we miss more than the ****head****ernagle is Jackson Appel and Max Weiner.
If you have those two we have about 10 more wins. We were overhyped other big loss was SS Ali was really good defensively.
We have been awful defensively, errors cost us the Texas series and other games.
Injuries as well have been bad, but everyone has them
