What did Trev do with the $3M he got from Texas to buyout Schloss? Which happens to be the amount of Earley's buyout.

He probably put it towards Jimbo's buyout.

This right here. We bet it all on Jimbo and crapped out. Now we're broke and every sport is going to suffer for years because of it.

The whole reason they brought in Alberts is that he's the "corporate hatchet man" of college athletics. Guy is not a winner. He's a money saver. All because of Jimbo.

Not if he wants to play in the best baseball league in college baseball

Didn't a local poster say he was going to Arizona State if Earley wasn't hired last year?

I hung with him through the season and was very impressed with the fight, but this is inexcusable. Something he's selling is not being bought by the team. You can't lose a home series to this gutter dog with everything on the line.

Great guy, maybe he needs 3 more years to finally become elite and maybe he will, but if we care about this program we have to move on.

Next year will be a total rebuild with or without him. With him we get the worst negative recruiting we could imagine. Start the process immediately.

One can care about the baseball program and NOT want to fire Michael. Tired of this narrative. Many reason not to fire him. First, he's had one year. Second, who's paying?

Not firing Michael doesn't equal not caring about baseball.

Also, let's build the player facility, start the stadium revamp and keep NIL up. Let's keep talent coming to this program.

What narrative are you talking about? I'm fine if someone wants to disagree. I'm not looking for a fight. The discussion is, if we keep him what do you think will be the result of our recruiting/portal buys? Because he will get eviscerated by tu, LSU, arky, tcu tech etc which means we need to pay more and do we have the donors who have the appetite to do that for him?

That's the major situation.

Not trying to start a fight either.

The narrative that if we don't fire a coach, the athletic department doesn't "care" about that sport. That's not true.

I do not have a problem with your opinion regarding firing Earley. Maybe it's the right call. Maybe not. But if we don't it doesn't mean the Ath dept doesn't care about baseball.

I scanned a report covering Earley's hiring and because our brain dead AD gave our yet another fully guaranteed contract, it looks like it'd be nearly $3M to buy out Earley + 700k to buy out Kelly.

I don't think it's happening.

The buyout of Earley is what we got for tu taking Schloss. So unless we decide the money is better spent elsewhere, we have the funds.

Unfortunately, I don't think they took the 2.7 million from schloss and put it in 9 month CDs.that money is likely somewhere else now.

Would love to be wrong, but I have never seen anything by our AD that would make me think they'd be capable of admitting a mistake this quickly, especially when it'd cost nearly $4M to correct it. I'm betting he's still here next year.
yes, if Earley is not fired...it's because the money is not available

the A.D. will of course say something else when asked about it -- but money will be the #1 reason for his retention

While I assume there is no bid for is unless we sweep Georgia and win a couple at Hoover, it is true that the SEC tournament winner is considered to be the SEC Champs and earn an automatic bid. Maybe even a host spot if we beat some combo of LSU/tu/Ark on our way to the title.
If Tony V at Tennessee will take the job fire Earley at Will, otherwise wait until the season is over.

The problem is you have someone learning on the job...

...but you also don't know if Grahovac, Sorrell, Kiel and the #5 recruiting class stick around if he's gone.

Have you ever considered that the revolving door of leaders is part of the problem?

Do you have a legitimate argument against Trev Alberts, or is this another one of those times where Aggies are lining up with their pitchforks bc they don't know what else to do? Talk about culture problem…

As it pertains to the OP, I say this as someone who thinks Earley should be gone.

There's no guarantee they stick around if he stays after seeing how this experiment worked in year one.

Earley stating the players have not quit was a very telling comment after the game.

Darn right he's going to state that bc if the players that pushed for him have quit on him that's about the worst thing that could happen to him.

FYI, they look like they have quit to me and the statement was CYA in my opinion.

Anybody see Jace leaning on the dugout fence after the game with a very contemplative look on his face??

I wonder if he was thinking: "why didn't coach tell me to hit the ball better today?" "Why did coach tell our guys to hit into two double plays after the lead off got on in two separate innings?" "At least coach told their SS to bobble the ball in the 9th allowing Bindy to get on base." "Coach should have demanded Royo swing at anything with 2 strikes, no matter what, dang it Royo, you needed coach telling you what to do and when to swing."

This is not sarcasm, levity, or excuses. It's reality.
Many folks on here think the HC is responsible for how the ball is hit or not hit, fielded or not fielded. Sure, he is responsible for player placement, substitution, and the game plan, but no coach controls specific intra-game actions and decisions.

If he gets fired or not, not everything is on the HC. Nobody complained when we beat Tenn 2 of 3 after getting run ruled. Nobody complained about beating LSU or Arky. Why weren't those games his fault, and why didn't we lose?

Carry on being miserable Ags. I will wait and see what happens to finish the year and how we approach next season. No matter what is decided I will root for the boys in maroon.

Buddy, I'm not miserable by any means. I'm blessed in life. Today I get to celebrate my wife, mother and grandmother of 96 years for being amazing moms.

I'm also going to call balls and strikes as I see them. Avoiding a glaring topic of discussion just to make grandstanding posts seems like the more odd road to take than actually discussing the topic. But that's just me.

No, lots of contributing factors but success and failure fall at the feet of the head man. I think Earley will be a really good HC and I had hoped it would be here, but I am not sure he gets the chance after this season.

It may be a total team rebuild next year, but not due to any underclassmen opting for the draft, portal maybe. I see no players doing themselves any favors entering the pro ranks after all their incnsistent play this season. They need to work on their skills in the college ranks one more year where life is much better than Double A life.

Have a great day!

The topic was blame and if Earley deserves to be fired. I dislike how the season went. I also know Schloss didn't win it all last year as a veteran coach with a better team.
I want to win and hope it happens regardless of the staff. I have no feelings on whether Earley is retained or fired. However, I do question those that blame him for everything even the accidental wins vs 3 top 5 teams.

He's the head coach. It's his program. As I said in my OP I'm very proud of the fight we have seen. But that doesn't excuse the first 3rd of the season or losing a home series to a previously winless conference foe when it mattered most. Something is not clicking.

I don't know why you're bringing Schloss up because that has nothing to do with this year. It's Earley's team. The roster was good enough to be ranked preseason #1. And here we are likely needing a SECT win to make the post season.
