I know this has been beat to death on the mlb forum, but the guy retired with a career WAR of 55.5. Higher than Lou Brock and Sandy Koufax. But never came close to being voted into the HOF. Apparently because he wasn't very popular with the baseball writers. Does anyone else have an explanation?

I don't disagree he should be in the HOF but using WAR to compare against Koufax and Brock is not the approach to take
