RPI gamesmanship by Xavier? The Musketeers' record is 7-9 although against stout competition, all away or neutral sites. IMO, their RPI of 2 shows how meaningless this metric is early in the season. I'm sure they are a very solid squad but not one of the best teams in the country. Anyways they are currently on a four game skid, all against SEC teams, soundly defeated by the Vols last Tues, and swept by the Dores over the weekend.

somehow Xavier won 2 games against Stanford (12-3) in Palo Alto...and those wins shot them up the RPI

the Musketeers (7-9) are playing a loaded non-conference schedule

12 games vs. Oregon State, Stanford, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, LSU, and Kentucky

the Vaqueros have swept both of their Southland series...and won midweek games at DBU and UH

chance for another good RPI win tonight at Southern Miss

I am on Team Vaquero. Outside of A&M, they're the Texas team I root for the most. Lots of great memories of the UTPA-Al Ogletree years and our company is doing a lot of work in The Valley these days. Can't wait to see how their football start up goes.

UT-Pan Am = Broncs

UT-RGV = Vaqueros

Left the Florida State campus just as the baseball game between Florida and FSU was beginning. Saw that the FSU starting pitcher left the game early; something happened but didn't catch exactly what it was.

I was a little tempted to stay for their game, but we have our second of campus visits tomorrow in New Orleans, then are heading to Aggieland for the final campus visit Thursday.

Making the most of Spring break with my baseball loving daughter.

And that Ole Miss score from tonight is likely the most interesting; 14-5 loss to South Alabama. It's not that Ole Miss lost, but the score.

USA has shown to be a quality program over the years but yeah that score even in a midweek where you don't want to tax pitching before the start of league play is a little shocking.

A several of blockhead plays in the B11 cost Okie State the game allowing DBU to score 3 after taking the lead with a two run bomb in the top of the inning.

Single
Double
Hustle single but the pitcher lollygagged covering the bag at first IMO. RBI
Comebacker to mound, pitcher goes to first despite having an excellent shot at getting the out at home. Tie game.
Steal of 3rd.
Winning run scores on a sac fly that looked like it would go foul. The ball was hit deep enough to let it drop because there was little chance to get the runner at the plate.

Texas State isn't doing us any favors. Since whipping our beloved Aggies a couple of weeks ago, they've gone a mere 2-6 to fall to 8-8 overall. That 2-6 record includes:

Losses - Grand Canyon (x2), Incarnate Word, Campbell (x2), and TCU

Wins - Grand Canyon, Campbell

Hate to say it, but the Bobcats appear to be a fairly mediocre team thus far and they beat our brains in.

Conversely, UTSA has a gaudy record (15-4), but they haven't played anyone. They have losses to UT-Arlington (x2), Baylor, and Incarnate Word, and - besides A&M - a bunch of wins over really bad teams...UTA, Long Island (x4), Houston Christian, Oakland, Youngstown State (x4), and Texas Southern (x3).

We probably should have found a way to play the McNeese game. Weak schedule, but they are 11-3 on the year. That game could have possibly helped us.

Cal-Poly is now 10-6 overall and on a 4-game winning streak...including a 3-game sweep of Cal State-Fullerton.

Elon is bad - glad we swept them. They were swept by Charleston Southern this weekend, but did beat Radford tonight to improve to 7-9 overall.

Call Poly swept 4-11 Fullerton so that doesn't say much. Fullerton is losing to mediocre USC at home tonight.

GCU beat Texas State 2 of 3 in San Marcos but they're good. They beat Oregon in Eugene today and play them again tomorrow. I agree that Texas State doesn't appear to be too good.
