This. Guys, unless we got Vitello (which supposedly we may have been close to pulling g off) or someone on that level, we were left in a really bad position by POS leaving the way he did that late. Again, to me the real issue was POS, and my only question is could we have known or vetted him out a little more to see what the potential was for him to leave us. Maybe there was no way to know, but it seems that we may have had some intel to know his relationship with CDC and the possibility of him following CDC somewhere like tu. But I don't think CDC was at tu when we hired Schloss. Could be wrong. Still, we are A&M and pretty much the top of the baseball food chain in terms of a threat of having our coach poached from us, so the odds seemed slim. Still, we could have had Vitello instead of Schloss. Now that seems like it might have been the better call.
Regardless, I'm supporting Earley and I do think he can get this team to Omaha. At worst we will be a top 10 team next week, can get right and learn and get better. Again, getting to Omaha is still realistically on the table.

I can assure you the players picked the coach. 100% the players leveraged their position to get Earley hired. Albers opted to take the easy way out a it was a calculated risk. But I can state for a fact the players picked the coach.

That Frisco tounament in 2022 was in fact terrible with little to no signs of life, spirit or talent. At least tonight, Prager threw a gem, Henesler looked great at the plate and Kent and a few others occasionally did something good. Tomorrow, though, we should see some line-up changes and maybe even move LaViolette down to the 5th or 6th spot with Schott hitting right after him and with Kiel leading off, Kent second, and Hensler third in the order. Don't know who we should put in the 4 and 5 holes but about any one would probably do (and do better than the original holders of these spots).

Love the dude immensely, but Schott needs to fall out of the lineup completely. I don't know who else can DH, but it would be nearly impossible for anyone else to do worse.

Makes you wonder what the leaders at A&M are doing. We need a clean slate. Obviously these generals with no experience running a university are not working out and are not able to elevate A&M academically or athletically. They appear to make poor hires and decisions. A&M is not military branch nor a political branch. It's a results oriented group in which you need to achieve.
Need either business people or professional academic administrators to come on and then make the hires based on their backgrounds and ability to elevate A&M to secure our investments.

We were very close to pulling Tony away from TN. However, he had to really think hard about A&M's offer because it was more than just about a contract and money. In the end, he used the interest from the Aggies to leverage a bigger contract from TN.

I'd sit Schott and Kash at a minimum. They both look completely lost at the plate, especially Schott.
Resources have never been our problem.
Given how things ended last year, I understand going with Earley if we couldn't get a big name. However, we need to be assembling names throughout this year and be prepared to make a move if he can't right the ship in a hurry.

Can't put that totally on the bullpen though, as the defense sh*t the bed in the ninth in both games.
I still think hiring Earley was the right call regardless of how this season plays out. With this roster coming back you roll the dice on him.
If we had hired someone like Skip Johnson and Jace, Gavin, and Sorrell were playing for Tennessee, LSU, Texas, etc there would be absolutely no enthusiasm for the program at all even if he's a good coach.
You don't throw away generational talent when you have it.
Earley also does not have a big contract commitment so if it really goes off the rails it will not be expensive to start over and be back to where we would've been in July had we hired someone else.

This. After the Frisco Tourney I had serious doubts we would even make the SEC Tournament much less get a NCAA invite. If you told me we would make it to Omaha, I would have thought you would have lost your marbles. As much as I hate him, that was a remarkable turn around by POS. Also keep in mind the Earley was also part of the staff that produced that turn around. The strategy was to keep the team together. That was largely executed very well with interesting additional players.

I hope Early rights the ship and I think he will based on nothing. But, there is nothing wrong with starting the list now. After this year, if Early doesn't pan out with this much talent, he may not ever be able to out recruit the rest of the SEC purely because of his lack of a track record. If he is successful this year, he can ride that in recruiting for a minimum of 3 years and then have a modicum of a track record.

We will never know if that is actually the case or not because he didn't get the stadium. But, I'm glad he's gone because this school and team deserves a coach who wants to be hear and doesn't have a wondering eye while they are here.
