I wish people would stop acting like they don't see the problems on this team that need to be fixed. No one is jumping off a cliff, but it's very fair to say this team has a lot of work to do
Nobody is ignoring a damn thing. We're two weekends into the season. Just because the college baseball press anointed the Ags as the preseason #1 does not mean there will not be bumps in the road especially when navigating a coaching change on top replacing key players from last season.

The people that are saying it's just baseball and this team will be fine are the ones ignoring the problems. This team is very different from last year, I think some are just assuming we can fast forward to regionals and worry about performance then
Because it is just baseball and good teams lose to bad teams all the time. I turned on the TV yesterday and the Red Sox needed a comeback to beat Northeastern University 5-2.

There are certainly issues that need to be fixed but that's the case every year.

More replies in this thread in the last 30 minutes than what was happening the whole game.

Probably because those of us at the game don't feel the need to pull our phone out to post as we'd rather watch the game.

Tons of people overreacting to a loss. And tons of people over reacting to fans disappointed we didn't get win. Reality is somewhere in the middle. This script re-writes itself every loss, every year.

WRONG.

****ty fielding and 20 popups cost us that game.

Really, cause none of that gave up 3 runs with a 2 run lead by a freshman after a previous pitcher had shut them down on very few pitches. But, you do you.
Edit so, one run was due to an error.
3 runs should never be enough to beat this team. Especially against a team like CP. so yeah the 20 pop ups were definitely the biggest reason we dropped this game.

3 runs is enough to beat any team in the country. Your premise is ridiculous. This ain't beer league softball.

There's 305 teams in NCAA baseball... Last year the 305th ranked team in runs per game averaged 4.2 runs per game.

Go ahead and average 3 runs a game. You'll be the 500th ranked team out of 305.

My taste fluctuates, but I'm back to Bulleit as a daily pour. Much cheaper than the Four Roses SB which I had been stuck on before this

My 6 year old daughter was watching the game with me and fell asleep on my chest. It was bliss.

I closed my eyes in the 6th and woke up in the 9th to a 3 -2 score

Is baseball

Win a third.
Lose a third.

It's the other third that matters.

(A) Freshcorn has fresh in his name but he's a sophomore.
(B) You have no idea that Rudis wouldn't have given it up.
(C) Had we gotten a hit in any of 5 different scenarios 3 runs wouldn't have mattered.
(D) Errors put pitchers in a bad position all day.

Yes Freshcorn gave up runs but A&M scoring only 2 is the real issue.

(A) my bad. New to A&M's pen rotation. Not as yet a trusted reliever.
(B)Trusted reliever who has had much success in this situation. Won't no unless you keep the trusted reliever in.
(C) We didn't but , still had a two run lead which should have been plenty with our normal trusted relievers.
(D) Didn't matter. We still got the starter through 7 innings and zero runs. 1 error only bit us when we got cute with an untested "sophomore" reliever who was put in to more than likely see what he had.
Dose this help? The hitting will come. A lot of our fly outs become HR's as the temperatures rise.

Fortunately none of the teams in all of college baseball play their games in temperatures between 30deg and 50deg with a north wind blowing all year. As the temperatures warm and the wind changes direction 180 degrees our pop ups will become more and more extra base hits. But, 2 runs was more than enough to have won today. A 2 run lead in the 9th is just not the time to be experimenting with untested bullpen arms.

I want to see Bergevin get some run. If Gavin is hurt he needs to rest. Galloway got a day off yesterday but I think we need to see more of Bear or Jamal behind the plate just so we know what they can do if necessary. Binderup could DH. If Sorrell isn't ready George could play an OF spot and Farr could play 2B.

I don't love that we play everyone out of position but that's how this team is composed.

There are lies, damn lies and then there are statistics.

Nothing is funnier than citing stats the second weekend of the season. Even good pitchers have off games. Heck a bad inning can blow up an ERA that takes a third of a season of solid pitching to rectify back down to what may be more in line to that pitchers actual talent.

Right now it is far too early to worry about the bats. The talent is there so should rectify itself. Play in the field is what has been lacking IMO. Solid fielding covers cold bats. Poor fielding allows what should have been a solo shot into a two run shot and moved around a base runner to third with less than two outs.

Tennessee lost to OU in the 2nd game of the season last year (yes, OU is much better than Cal Poly) and then they lost to Bama 2 games to 1 in their first SEC series. One difference is UT was putting up massive offensive numbers for the most part though. We need to get the bats woken up soon

Literally no one is "ignoring" any problems. But these games are very normal in baseball to great teams. Again, last year's team had "problems" too. There are no perfect teams in baseball. It's purposefully not a prefect game.

not to mention that the Aggies were about 18 inches from scoring 9 runs today. Yes the bats have started off slowly. I think the cold weather probably factors into that. I'm not too worried about the bats. More doubts regarding defense and closer.

Then get in your "Way Back Machine" and live in the past. We got the whinniest fan base in college sports.

It's a long season, we've got a ways to go, and one rough game (or series) isn't gonna be the end of the world. But I don't think it's whining to wish the #1 team in the country played like it.

George is a utility player capable of playing just about anywhere in the field.

Hensler is a 3rd baseman playing second. I don't think my lineup is too crazy from a fielding standpoint.

If Gavin needs a little rest and sorrell isn't yet healthy, you could leave cash in lf, insert George to 2nd base, and dh binderup/berg depending on who you want to play at first.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
It's a bad loss and we'll move forward from here. Close games are better than blowouts. We've got to figure out our pen we have a mess out there with Stewart going down. We need to see Berghevin and George more Ali g with Henseler at 3rd he wouldn't have booted either of those routine grounders.
WhoopN06
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Gavin is clearly injured and it's affecting his defense. Kash is a weak defender in LF. Kent is fine but a major downgrade from Ali. Binderup is a downgrade from Ted Burton. Catcher, either of them, are major major downgrades from Appel.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Gavin still seemed to be having some trouble with his wrist. Noticed him holding it after he grounded out early in the game
