The "adidas Gold Standard" in the tweet was the thing that made me think this is an adidas thing that they are doing across all of their schools. This year's are considerably better than the Tequila Sunrise ones they did a few years ago - that somehow Louisville still wears while no one else to my knowledge does. It just didn't work for so many color combinations and seemed forced.

I do really like the cream color of this year's. Very classic look that I wanted us to wear more last year.
Louisville keeps wearing the rainbows because they keep ordering rainbows.

I thought we were past the days of thinking that a big box just shows up and everyone goes, "well, this must be the uniforms."

Texas A&M Dugout Crew Sweater

Similar to the one they sold last year with the script Aggies written across the chest.

This is my personal favorite.

Adidas does this to MLS as well.....one jersey template for the entire league, just change the colors

And even worse, Nike does it for the national teams.....Englands tops are the same template as the US tops

There are so many simply fantastic ideas and designs that get thrown away in favor of an easy bitton

Does anyone know of a repo of pics of our baseball uniforms across our storied history?

Personally, I would like to see more variations of maroon, blue/navy and white.

This is the thing with all the big apparel providers. It is cheaper to go with a standard templet. Nike, adi, UA, they all do it. For instance, look at the fall sidelines line each year. They literally have the same templets for all the polos, tees and caps. Watch another adidas school on tv and look at the sidelines. A lot of the gear you will see is also being worn by A&M on the sidelines. Same with Nike schools, etc. It is fine. A lot of it is really cool looking. But that is why I kinda laugh when someone on Texags complains that A&M has the worst looking gear, yet it's the same gear as every other adi school. It's even more funny when they use another adi school the the one where their gear is better looking. It's the same! It is also why teams do special orders to meet their more specific needs. This is where fans will get mad b/c they don't see these items in stores. But it would be almost impossible to make it happen on time (before the season) as these special orders are either made in house by the team's equipment guys (see the video put out before the baseball season last year by Aggie Baseball Equipment where they were adding the print-work to the shirt themselves), have a 3rd party make them or order from the provider through the Team end of things, not the Retail side. In the end, it isn't always A&M or adidas fault that the spec order stuff isn't available to fans. Coaches and equipment guys aren't really paid to ensure the fan can get a sweatshirt or cap. My biggest issue is when adidas, Nike or whoever actually do make some specific stuff they could make available, like the white fitted on field cap with maroon bill A&M wore a few times last season yet was never picked up by retail. That could be on retail not ordering them (the buyer at AO or Maroon U for instance), adi retail not knowing or deciding to proceed to make it available or some other reason.

In the end, as fans, we all want the option to get all of our favorite team's gear. The fact that a lot of jerseys are available is hopefully a sign more will be available in the future.

This is a good selection of jerseys available to buy, but it sucks so much that there's no numbers on them. It seems like it'd be pretty easy for them to just slap a 12 on the front and back, but I guess not.

I think a lot of it is that 12 is big for the 12th Man, but not every school has "the 12th Man" nor a specific number that represents something for them. Again, this is a templet situation. It's unlikely that adi will have one school with a number and the others without. And I wonder if a lot of numbers sort of get into a hazy area of NIL issues. Obviously, 12 is a general A&M 12th Man thing. But what number would Nebraska or Louisville use? And the number adi decided to use could be a number used by a current athlete and they would want NIL from it...

Why is this any different for baseball than it is for other sports though? In football and basketball, our jerseys have a 12 on them, and for the most part, the jerseys other teams can buy have a 1 on them. Why could they not just do the same here? I'd be much more likely to buy one if there wasn't this obvious gaping blank space on the front and back where the numbers should be.

I honestly do not know the answer. But I think it boils down to the fact that adi is more capable to put numbers on football and basketball as they make a lot more of those. If you look at Nike's baseball unis, it is the same deal, no numbers:

It is expensive to add more and more things to the jerseys. And it would drive the price up. The average price of a replica football jersey is $130 (with tackle twill numbers-screened numbers are cheaper). These jerseys have embroidered/tackle twill lettering. Adding the numbers would increase the price to at least $130. Maybe more as they don't likely make as many. baseball as football since football sell a lot better. And I wonder if they have done the math on this and feel $100 is a price point that will sell more. adi used to make on-field jerseys available (not replica like these) and they were around $150. And they didn't have numbers either, but everything was embroidered. Those may not have sold as well at that price. Again, this is me guessing here.

Does the jersey have the same issue as last seasons maroon one where if you wear it unbuttoned it says "Agggies"? Never understood why they added the extra letter.

Isn't that how all button up baseball jerseys are done?

I don't think they're designed to be worn unbuttoned

That's the thing though. The jerseys are already expensive. If I'm paying that much, I want them to be nice and I want a number. I don't think that's too much to ask.

Actually, it probably is too much to ask. A Premier Football Jersey from adi is $130 MSRP. And those are likely cheaper to make given the volume that is produced over baseball jerseys. I'd figure it's more expensive to produce a similar baseball jersey with a number sewn on given manufacturers make less baseball than football. So those would end up being at least as much as the football ones, if not more and that cost would carry over to us...

Notice the Nike baseball jerseys are $99 just like the adi baseball jerseys. Meaning, they have run the numbers and feel overall that is THE best price point to sell the most jerseys while still making a profit given the production costs. Basic economics here. Sew numbers on them and that cost rises along with the price to meet the producers profit goals.

A final note, the basketball jerseys sold in retail have numbers, but those are screened on. Cheaper to make and the shirt costs less too.

This. Pro jerseys from Nike do the same thing, iirc. They are mean't to be buttoned up. People wear them unbuttoned, but these are meant to appear like actual game used jerseys, even though they are replicas.

Still wish we would make these real uniforms. Perfect unis IMO

Friday- Pinstripes
Saturday- Maroon Texas Aggies
Sunday- Black Texas Aggies
Black jerseys on a hot midday Sunday game sounds like piling on.

I like being surprised (no regular rotation) and I never know how many games I'll be able to make on any weekend.

I hope when the House settlement is approved we can do a better job of supporting player-specific likenesses like numbers. But if you go to Globe Life Field or Daikan Park you will see the same issue. You can buy some but not all players' numbers.

And authentic jerseys go up if personalized. Fans need to plan to just pay more or accept compromises.

I'm just hope neither returns. Both were hideous options for maroon and white team colosr but with the right colors the horizontal stripes work (see the old Astros tequila sunrise unis) but IMO pinstripes should only be white unis with stripes not the reverse.
