I know it sucks to pay 3-10x the face on the open market. That said, at least there is an open market. I don't like paying it either but it's my choice to do it and I am a firm believer in capitalism. That said, I have never sold a single ticket I have purchased, even if I bought them on the open market and I probably won't. But that's my choice just like it's their choice to sell. I have also had great luck on this forum and ticket exchange buying direct from season tickets holders (at great prices) when they can't make it.
I guess we'll all just have to wait for the expansion (or price increases by the 12thman that pushes people out). I am losing faith in this expansion getting done any time soon. I wish they'd just put up more bleachers (remove a berm or something). LSU has a ton of bleacher seats...it's fine. We certainly don't need a 360 concourse...seems like a huge waste of cash.

Yes, it sucks that some of us weren't in a position to buy season tickets earlier. Life sucks sometimes.

Limiting the number of tickets season ticket holders can sell to other fans would likely lead to a significant cut in the supply of available tickets on the secondary market (which is already extremely tight). This would lead to even higher prices and it still wouldn't help everyone else get season tickets as the people intent on reselling tickets would now be able to do so at a higher margin.
There are 3 ways to solve this and open up the availability of season tickets:
1) Raise prices on season tickets to take out the margin from re-selling (and as a bonus, support the program/AD). Long time season ticket holders do not want to hear this, but the tickets are severely underpriced. Squeezing out people that are not willing to pay higher prices would open up more tickets, but then a lot of people would complain about this as well.
2) Expand the stadium to give opportunities for more fans to get in. Note - prices would likely be raised after spending millions to expand the stadium anyways.
3) Stop having a CWS caliber baseball team which would over time drop the renewal rate. I don't like this option!

People keep saying this, but they haven't looked at what other schools are charging. We are not underpriced anymore. The problem is primarily a lack of supply. It's a shame that a new park was ruled out, as that would have been the best way to remedy the situation, the current structure limiting what we can do.Quote:

You can fix current supply issues with higher prices. You can compare prices to other schools but there are multiple factors that need to be compared to get to a good comparison (size of alumni base, size of city, size of stadium, strength of underlying economy, strength of the program, etc.).

They have offered that to current season ticket holders, but I don't know how many takers they got. Even though I live 300 miles away and sometimes have 1 or 2 of my 3 tickets go unused (especially on Tuesdays), what they were offering didn't look like something I would want to do. While there are a lot of season ticket holders who know they are going to miss certain games, that varies so much from individual to individual that it's hard to come up with something attractive.Quote:

I know they've tried something similar. I think the way to do it is take the 200-300 seats that come up each year (or this year) and split them into packages. You won't get current ticket holders to give up their seats. They're too cheap, especially for the people that aren't local and the true market value of those tickets are higher than the face value In good years. So local ticket holders won't give them up because they know they can pay for their seats via the secondary market.
My hunch is that if you live out of town and you have baseball (or basketball tickets), the cost of those tickets are fraction of the cost of going to a game. Furthermore, selling tickets to non premium games isn't worth your time because you have plenty of money. It's probably one of the reasons we see a lot of empty seats behind home plate during the weaker parts of the schedule.

There are ways to accomplish this. There are musicians who have limited how much you can resell a ticket. If they catch you or you are reported, they invalidate your tickets. I was witness to this for a concert I saw advertised in SF. Doubt it is a perfect system.
I have been told by friends in Europe, they have some rules in place to limit mark ups. I have no personal knowledge of this or how it works.

Raise prices? That's either a 12th Man Foundation troll or someone who cares more about themselves. I'm paying $1250 a ticket and if you push me out at $2500/ ticket for yourself what did the TEAM gain? Same number of people in the seats but the school profits. A&M ain't broke / I don't get the comment.

Yea I understand what you are saying logically but it doesnt make me agree. I bought my tickets 15 years ago / where has the backlash been since then. Sure at $350 a ticket it was a steal but that's not my fault and I've been supporting a team before the bandwagon.
And to be clear - I'll pay what I have to to keep them post-expansion but doesn't mean I agree with "raise prices".

If you just held an auction for tickets, you'd end up with more of what the OP was complaining about, not less, as you'd have a bunch of new season ticket holder buying simply because they can. As things stand right now, we're making a good return on tickets, and the seats are as full as anywhere in college baseball. You could raise ticket prices beyond the almost 300% mine have increased since 2022, and it wouldn't make any meaningful difference to the bottom line. If all we do is trade off a bunch of folks who have supported Aggie baseball when it wasn't a tough ticket for a new group, my guess is that it won't be a good thing for Aggie baseball.

Depends on where those tens of thousands of dollars were directed. There are many who have supported football only for years and built up priority points and now want to get baseball season tickets because we are nationally relevant, when they haven't been interested before.
Another problem the TMF has to deal with is season ticket holders that have supported baseball for years but got ZERO priority points for years because baseball was an afterthought to the athletic department.
Re-seating the stadium is 4+ years away at a minimum, so there will be lots of time to discuss how they should handle the re-seating.
Its very simple. If they were to reseat Olsen solely based on priority points and limit everyone to four tickets, you'd have folks with low priority points hitting up friends with high points, who aren't baseball fans or don't live close enough to go to baseball games to buy tickets for them in the reseating.BBQ said:

If my memory serves me proper, the delta in years between football/basketball priority point earnings and baseball starting to get priority points was something like 5 seasons max. So yes there was a short period of time that PP earnings potential was lost. But thinking about it, what was the required donation levels per seat required during that period?

Baseball got no priority points until rather recently (2019?), and then only five per ticket as opposed to the 10 you get for football or basketball that cost the same. When Byrne raised ticket prices right after he took the job, I asked him to do it through required donations rather than just raising ticket prices. Had we done so, then long time season ticket holders would be in a better position.
I agree with that hence, my stating maybe considerations should be given to PP's earned from baseball season ticket support
