A short time ago I would have said no…but we just had the runner up in the championship game leave the next day. Not a whole lot of difference. Schlongnums did have unusual reasoning though with his lover boy CDC.

Yep, but his situation was unique. He faced NCAA sanctions, and got a big promotion back to the NFL.

That would almost be as ridiculous as a coach that's currently IN the championship series quiet quitting to lose it and head for the nearest rival.

Nobody cares about their SEC party. No one. Including them. It's not a news worthy event. Announcement of Vitello wouldn't affect the stupid sec party. It's for them and their party planning staff.

He was the head football coach at Washington State University (1976), the University of Pittsburgh (19771981), Texas A&M University (19821988), and Mississippi State University (19912003), compiling a career head coaching record of 1801204.

Majors was the HC of the 76 NC team. He must have retired and Jackie replaced him in 77. Or did he then go to UT? Yeah, Johnny Majors musta left Pitt for UT.

I am intrigued by the Vitello talk considering UT committed and approved last year to a 100 million stadium upgrade, his positivity with Knoxville, his relationships with the other sports' coaches as well as Peyton, and UT's ability to match dollar for dollar anything any other school offers.
Not saying it cannot happen, but by everything he is saying in the media here, it appears he is very happy and content with staying put. I also think he is not the serial liar Schlossnagle appears to be.

Agree with what you are saying. Nothing about Vitello leaving is even being whispered remotely anywhere that I can see. At this point don't see it. If he was to make a move in our direction, Vol militia might come take Davy Crockett back from us.

I definitely think Michael Earley is coming back either as head coach or associate head coach. And I think Gavin and Jace will be staying at A&M. If Vitello comes to A&M, then that would be awesome.

I'm going to put this out there… there is one name that apparently is off limits to talk about…. So… who could that possibly be? I think knowing that they have Earley here regardless of what happens, someone told Trev to go big name fishing and make that name tell you no. If it's a no… so be it… we make Earley the guy. If he says yes…. We set the world on fire…. I maybe way… way off… but who knows. I'm ready for this thing to be over!

Wouldn't say no leaks…many have known who has been interviewed (well, mist names are known)…and we know 3 names have either not made 2nd rd or decided not to go further as their intent was a larger payday (O Connor, Johnson, Walter have removed themselves).

We are aware of Earley and I've heard scuttlebutt on some specialty coaches from MLB too (heck one as a pitching specialist).

So I think it has to do with maybe announcing a full staff potentially at once, but my speculation.

When the new HC & ACs are announced by the AD, I'd like to see every returning player who is available to be standing behind the new guys when the announcement is made. Make it a statement of "who's side are you on?". A statement of solitarity. A statement that they are engaging in this war together with one purpose in mind: Win a National Championship.
