Did we know about Schlossnagles character prior to hiring him?

Hunter Coleman worked for me a few years ago after he graduated. He'd mentioned that his little brother Ty left the Aggie program when Schloss was hired due to some things they knew about him personally. Never specified what it was, but I wonder how I wonder what we knew prior?

Disclosure: I haven't always followed Aggie Baseball as closely as I do now, so there's a good chance I'm being something up that everyone here knows already.

I have been wondering the same thing. And. If we knew and when we knew and how do we learn our lesson about overlooking huge character flaws for sake of winning?

We knew he got a divorce, and his relationship with his family was strained. We knew rumors of his extracurricular night time activities. We knew TCU wasn't exactly sad he was leaving.

I do not think we knew about it to this degree. His rep was as a hard coach with a recently messy family life.

I'd heard stories that he was an a-hole, but when the a-hole is on your side and winning you tend to overlook all that stuff.

Yes, we knew.

His story was it was all part of a bad marriage and he needed a change of scenery.

But a bad marriage itself does not produce a narcissistic ******* necessarily. There had to be more information out there. It just didn't make the rounds or it did and nobody paid attention or cared.

Well, Nick Saban could be an ******* too and he was a good coach, but I don't even see Nick Saban doing something like this. Well, at least at this degree. I guess he did say he wasn't going to Alabama when he did.

Winning will cure a lot of things. Sadly, It's easy to look past sleazy behavior when it's our sleaze ball.

Howdy, our Grandson is an LHP for a Div II, San Angelo State, Univ. We were pumped on Schloss, who was not, at Christmas out visiting in Midland. Sat down and visited with Josh about Aggie baseball and his baseball at Angelo State. He flat out told us that he had stories from guys that played for Schloss that he was a TOTAL JERK! Not that we did not believe him, we did NOT want to believe him. I owe Josh an apology!!!

We had a double buyout clause if he left for an in state program. There is really only one in state program we really need to worry about poaching a coach from us. Someone was obviously a little worried that that's exactly what he would do.

I remember hearing ex players not liking him but I think we ignored it bc we figured it was players that were just mad for not playing.

We missed that reasoning clearly now.

Well the AD figured out the hire was a perverted drunk, and made pointed moves to bring the GTFO conversation pretty quick.

AD knows how to play hot potato AND the toss was to tu.

Anyone with half a brain who paid attention to the media at the time of the hire? This was all stuff that was pretty publicly out there.

Reading these comments about Schloss, reminds me how less than a week ago this Forum was bragging how Schloss's character and behavior compared so favorably to Tennessee's Tony Vitello.

I have posted below some excerpts from a Tennessee Baseball Forum thread titled "Playing for Coach Vitello and the culture". Take a look at what Tennessee's players said about their coach who was so reviled and despised by TexAgs.

Zander Sechrist, in his last comments in a UT uniform: "I was blessed enough to have him recruit me. Growing up in a single-mother household and talking to this man mostly every day and every week, he was just like a father figure to me."

Christian Moore, in his last comments in a UT uniform: "He really cares about his players, and he would do anything for his players. When you have a role model like that, you'll do anything for him. I've told people multiple times, I'd do anything for that man."

Christy Behnke, mother of Vols pitcher Andrew Behnke: "These players are so loyal to him, and I think it's because he connects with them in a way I don't think many coaches would be able to do."

The Athletic
That pretty much says it all. If people are wondering why [Tony Vitello] is so loved by this fan base, all they have to do is read those comments. If I was a potential transfer or a high school prospect, I'd be paying close attention. I particularly like TV's comment where he said if you're strictly looking for a payday, don't waste our time or yours. It ain't all about the money.

There were rumors he was an a-hole.

On the TexAgs radio interview with Boomer when we hired him, Boomer praised his baseball knowledge… and tread careful when talking about him personally.

So, the 'pineapple lifestyle' is real? I thought that was just a TexAgs joke/rant.

Underrated post!

The three year run had its exhilarating moments, to be sure! But now that the cat's out of the bag, we can all be thankful he's gone, but even more importantly, endeavor to use the experience to tidy up our own housekeeping. It might just be that our AD has "earned his spurs" the first rattle out of the box! This drama has taken a very interesting twist for me.

Schloss keeps saying he left his family for A&M.

His wife was divorcing him for cheating and he left with his side piece.

I wish the media would, just once, call him on that horse$#!t.

I had heard of some shady stuff surrounding his family situation. But I had no idea that he was this big of a lying, classless mother ****er with zero integrity.

Travis Brown from The Eagle…the A&M beat writer…was a bullpen catcher for him at TCU and he treated Travis like total **** while Travis was just trying to do his job. Similar story from Boomer White. As I've mentioned before, there's been a number of stories from inside the department about what a dick he was, but he won. People will turn their heads on a lot of stuff if you win.

Thing is, A&M had a good track record with adultering coaches before Schloss. Lots of winning.
