Albert's didn't match the offer. That's all this is. It's the Jimbo anchor around our necks. We got out money whipped. And that's just plain embarrassing that we put ourselves in that position. That stupid contract is what killed this.

It's not that at all, we offered to match the contract.

The way this all played out and we can now clearly see who Scholss really is, we're better off. As said elsewhere, it is not that he left but how. Speaks volumes. I guess I am "old school" and may be in the minority, but character matters more than championships (it is possible to have both). Schloss has taken crapping the bed to a whole new level. This whole thing was coordinated (no surprise on tu's part) and he was right in the middle of it.

Liars and Narcissists find ways to avoid answering the question and point blame at someone else. He blamed Zane for his outburst by calling him selfish. Kind of ironic now looking back when the most selfish person in the entire room was Schloss himself.

Half truths are still lies. Please do yourself a favor and dont' defend the guy. His name is trash now all throughout baseball except for Austin...and their opinion doesn't count.

It's amazing how different the impressions people can come away with having watched the same video clip.
I watched the press conference knowing the deal had already been done. To me, he appeared flustered but didn't ever commit to coming back, which spoke volumes. To many Aggie posters who didn't believe he would leave, he seemed to confirm he was staying.
I agree with the OP that he didn't actually "lie," but obfuscated a bit. You could tell he was genuinely upset- maybe from the loss or the fact that he knew the news was going to drop like a hydrogen bomb on College Station.

Should Schloss have told the whole truth right after the game?

"Death, Taxes, Texas, and Florida at the CWS are all certainties."
Schloss mentioned that several times the last couple of weeks.

The right thing to do is say "All we're taking about tonight is this game and this team". And that's it

The false anger and indignation, along with false recruiting trips and events is the collective lie.

The Coach may not have done anything underhanded on how he phrased his answer.
He just lacked transparency and honesty. I'd be careful if I'm being recruited by him at UT.
He just doesn't have the truth in him. He has an ethical problem, but he'll end up making more money.
He hasn't lost any coaching ability, but he has lost some character and if he is willing to sacrifice his
character for another program, any future player he recruits should pay attention to his words and work the situation carefully.

No, he took the job because CDC had left TCU and he no longer had cover and his wingman on their flights of fancy. He knew at some point CDC would bring him into the fold at Texas. No doubt after things I have read the past 36 hours.

The signs were there, we just missed them.

He's gone. The only cost to us is realizing how valuable he was as a coach and CEO.

I'll note Gillispie also tired of the capital spend cycle and left up another school that generally is more involved in getting spend done.

The quality of the build out and support for NIL both left him with options when another job opened up they arguably is higher prestige. If he accepts Disch-Falk as is for three more years then you know…

Their outfield walls, dugouts, and coaching offices are full of garbage.

"I left my family (for this job)"

think of the (college aged ) kids who must have witnessed at home what p.o.s. he is. That must have been very tough on the divorced wife and kids to see him leave. oh, the humanity!
