The obsession that some have with getting girls on the sideline at this school (or the lack of them from people who insult it) has always been really weird. The only time I've ever paid attention to a cheerleader was when she's going to throw something free into the stands. Players never look at them, they're busy with the game.

Nobody goes to games to watch them except dudes with a hole in their pocket and their moms.

the players and recruits notice support from pretty classmates.. that's what matters. And the girls enjoy supporting the team. It's a no brainer. But yet here we are ..

I think so. I don't follow them that closely but the hate for them is weird. The outfits they wear aren't that different/show more than the DD but for some reason they are too sexual and should be banned.

Not sure how they are okay for basketball but not baseball.

Lol it's a college town with 25,000+ girls and what matters is the dance team for D1 male athletes who are already being paid well?

I'm glad we didn't end up making some emotional astronomical offer to Schloss to stay.

Definitely an area where we need to evolve.
I love traditions, and even the goofyness of the yell leaders, but we can certainly have more than just the same old schtick w those dudes involved in our major sporting events.

I've made those exact arguments on the Zoo when people argue against having them at football games.

However....the only reason it's being discussed now is because that was one of the laundry list of items Schloss kept throwing out to criticize the fanbase and being unhappy with "the environment," or with life in general. Environment was never a problem at Olsen, especially compared to 99.9% of college baseball stadiums.

Holy shtt there are 25K women aged 18-22 easily at A&M but the issue for the D1 athlete is that a handful weren't dancing at baseball games?
