He wasn't but he deserves criticism. He called many pitches outside the buffer. Some in crucial situations. There has to be checks and balances and consequences for missing some pitches as badly as he did.

Did you pick up buffer from tonight's announcers? Because a buffer zone is a new one

Need professional officials. What truck stop did they find this swine.

I agree there have been horrible calls but that's not why we are losing. Need to string some hits together.

See Jace's last at bat and explain. Swinging at a pitch high out of the zone because home plate blue had already called two of the same, strikes.

Tonights strike calling was the worst I have seen in a while. No excuse for that poor of an umpire performance in the CWS

No it's not new. When the umps get their grade there is a buffer. If a pitch is there and you strike it, it isn't considered a missed pitch. If you get hold of a game report you will see

Digital strike zones at every level of baseball can't come soon enough, but opportunities have been there, and we have failed to take advantage. Don't blame the ump.

Can blame us not taking opportunities but I can and will be pissed about that strike on Jace. This game is a game of inches but that wasn't a strike by a foot. No wonder he chases that last strike!

I don't see on person on here blaming the umpire for us not winning. That being said the players and fans deserve better than what is taking place.

If you were bad at your job people would complain about you also.

I will be that person…

I know the game changes when the situation changes, but if Jace gets the walk he earned, he scores with the hits/wild pitches that followed. We go to the bottom of the 9th with the lead and I think we win. Literally one pitch completely changed the game.

This single pitch changed the game IMO. Made the zone absolutely undefendable for Jace and 100% had an impact on the outcome of the game. Absolutely criminal.

The pro-Tennessee pitches low and away for strikes allowed them to keep their pitcher in way longer. Easily had a effect on game

Forced us to chase pitches outside the zone. Damn near unhittable pitches at that.
