It definitely hurts having one less quality arm. We just need 2 more guys to give us a few clean innings
Against these good hitting teams seems like 4 guys combining for a W is how the games usually go

Agree. I strongly suspect that Schloss starts someone today who's not yet thrown in Omaha. Good arguments can be made for Jones or Wilson.

Wind will be blowing IN from RF this afternoon, 7mph or so.

Why do we like Zane today? Not at all criticizing. I just don't know anything about him other than he's senior and a big guy. Does he throw hard? Have good command of several pitches? Or is it that Tennessee hasn't seen him?

Honestly I have no idea. My kids got autographs from him last week. Before that I really didn't know who he was.

I thought Jones or Wilson might get the nod but I trust Schloss & Weiner 100%.

Look at his numbers. He's a damn good pitcher and has had a lot of success.

In scanning through the pitching data, the question that I had was - why have we not seen more Zane Badmaev. His numbers are pretty nice:

ERA: 2.70
BAA: .188
WHIP: 0.90 (!!!)

He was a bit shaky in March, but in his last 4 appearances against Miss, Arky, MSU and Oregon, he's given up 1 ER in 8.0 innings. Maybe not all of these were in high leverage situations, but I seem to recall him showing up pretty strong in tight games with MSU and Oregon. Could Zane be the next unknown guy to show up big?
