Interesting that he mentioned Schott possibly playing OF. I was under the impression that he couldn't play defense either because of his knee. He looked really shaky running the bases hard the other night.

Schott played right field at Columbia.

He said play the field, he didn't say outfield.

Maybe Teddy Ballgame go to outfield and Schott to first?

He was our starting leftfielder for the first part of this season until Sorrell came on.

5 looked 25 times better trying to leg out a double than 17 looked trying to cross home plate.

Everyone is fighting some issue it seemsโ€ฆ.tough as nails and a pleasure to watch

Yes I know, and he played Left for the first month or so of the season. But his knee is super banged up, he has a huge brace on it, and hasn't been moving very well recently. So I didn't think he could still play outfield, especially with as much ground as he would have to cover in the big outfields in Omaha.

We can't afford to just stick someone at first if they don't play there. This isn't some adult league softball game.

If Schott is in play for the field, it would be LF. I would assume the defense would look like this.

C: Appel
1B: Burton
2B: Kent
3B: Grahovac
SS: Camarillo
LF: Schott
CF: Chestnut
RF: Sorrell
DH: LaViolette

What about Bell?

Nothing against Schott since I know he has a bum knee but if he plays OF you know Jace is hurting. Downside is the field has a lot of OF room to cover

Bench if we can play both Schott & LaViolette.

Interesting comment by Schloss during his interview when he said Sdao is our best outfield (and practices it), and if wasn't hurt would be a key option. I can see that.

Me to, Brauny said that this morning. I guess Brauny had bad info.

I feel like Schott is ready to leave it all on the field and go all out. Not sure if he is looking to the next level or not, but he has been a true leader on this team and ready to do what he has to do.

Guy seems like he should have some type of career in broadcasting or something though. Great personality and has a good twitter game.

I think Jace may not start tomorrow night since we have a "game in hand". PH if necessary late, but this would give one more day to "heal". There's really just no good option because Schott is a huge liability in the outfield, but we definitely need him in the lineup.

Of course this all depends on the extent of Jace's injury and how he's feeling tomorrow....

Schloss and the players will do everything they can to win tomorrow. They are playing to win it all and not using up pitching in an extra game is key. If Jace does not play, it's not bc we think it's OK bc we have a game to be relaxed.

I don't see anyway Jace isn't in the lineup. Everyone understands Schott's knee is banged up but he ran full speed scoring from first on a double and he even tried to extend his hit yesterday to a double. He obviously feels fine enough to run on it. If Jace can't play the field he will DH and Schott will play OF. Just gotta hope at that point that no super difficult balls get hit his way but he is running fine enough to handle some fly balls. You have to have them both in the lineup.
