87 homers on the season . Completely different beast than Flawda.

Team ba .288 which is good but not great . We hit .299 for the season fyi. Obp .404 vs our .419

Stole 119 bases for the season vs our 78. They are aggressive runners

Team era at 4.92 for season, a full point higher than ours

Fielding % .980 vs
Our .978. They don't beat themselves often
So they arent really capable of a shootout. I think that favors us.

If their BA is so low, a good pitcher on a a good day may blank em.

From these stats, we are better and in some cases significantly better than UK in some important statistical areas:

But did they lose their best hitter last week. You have know Braden had a major impact on our hitting stats. We are probably much closer to even compared to UK without him.

Statistically I don't think BMont ended the season as our best per BA, Jace certainly overtook him in HRs.

But your point is taken. However Kent might be better with BA than Mont over the last month....soOooOO....???

Don't really care about history. Prager will stand looking at first base. They steal bases at an 80% pace. Prager needs to stare 1st base down. Advantage of a lefty. Prepare for small ball. Sure Schloss has this!

I would put Jackson behind Jace and leave GG at leadoff.

GG needs to move down to 8 or 9.

They will play great defense, like to steal bases, a lot of hit and runs, drag/push bunts for hits, will squeeze bunt and also sacrifice bunt. Will try put pressure on our defense.

Good thing is they play on an artificial field in Lexington. Things might not play as they think with bunts and even sliding

Good point and I hope you're right. But they have a 19-5 road record. That's s impressive, maybe better than anyone else in the country, especially playing in the SEC.

We aren't beating UK if the top of our order doesn't start hitting.

Most telling stat about this UK team in my opinion is they are now 23-9 against Q1 opponents -tied with Tennessee for the most Q1 wins this year. (Our Q1 record is 18-13).

They really don't stand out in any specific aspect of the game, but they just play incredibly confident & expect to win every game.

One area they do excel in in comparison to the rest of the field is that they have the second highest team OPS against LHP. Their OPS is actually about 100 points higher vs LHP (.988) than RHP (.862). Will need Prager to be on his A game.

Kentucky thrives on free passes much like A&M does. Unlike A&M, they follow it up with aggressive small ball type play. I think Prager can work ahead in counts and have a very strong outing against these guys and the infield defense will be solid.

We seem pretty beat up right now. Gotta get more offense if we're gonna make a run. I'd move Sorrell up.
He was moved up from Supers to CWS. Schloss loves the left right left so I think that is why he is batting after Burton.

Appel switch
LaViolette left
Grahovac right
Schott left
Burton right
Sorrell left
Camarillio right
Kent left
Chestnut right

Hits aren't the goal, runs are. Of course you want some hits but our approach is heavy on plate discipline and making the opponent throw you something you can hit and making their pitchers throw a lot of pitches is a big part of getting into the bullpen.

I'm not saying your'e wrong at all that UK likes to draw walks but their pitching staff allows over a walk per 9 more than ours does. That's not a huge margin but also not insignificant .

Offensively their obp is not as good as ours but it's still good. About 15 points less

I feel like UNC screwed this up against Tennessee. They were way too aggressive early and did not try to force Tennessee's pitchers to throw more and produce opportunities. They swung at the first thing that came along, kept the pitch count low, and let the pitchers kind of dictate. Contrast that with Tennessee who were very patient and drove up the pitch count. I think it was the second or third inning where one of the Tennessee batters drew a walk on 6 pitches and didn't even swing.

Pass. I want a lead off hitter that can at minimum put the ball in play. GG has become a K machine for some reason.
