This is a good post. It's a lot of pressure to put on Prager, but true. We need a quality start from him (and a win), to help save the additional arms for the later games.

I don't expect to win. I'm 42 and this is the first time I've ever felt this way, going into a big game/series with the Aggies. We always find a way to lose.

So even though I don't expect to win, I think we actually win the whole thing now, because I don't think we can.

Aggies sports can absolutely play with the mind.

If coastal Carolina, a 3 seed Oregon state/ole miss and a 30 loss Fresno state team can win the whole thing, no reason we can't.

That said we have virtually no shot if we drop game 1. We have a shot but still low shot of advancing if we drop game 2. That's a huge IF, but if we can somehow start out 2-0 I think we take the whole thing. Gives us time to reset prager and the staff.

All I know is I'm gonna cry

A few weeks ago, I bought refundable airfare round trip flight from IAH to OMA Jun 21-25, and refundable downtown Doubletree hotel for nights of Jun 21-24.

I hope to use both.

We went to Gainesville 18-0 and each team scored 14
Runs with the Gators winning 8-6 and 4-2 and we won 10-6 game 2. I expect a relatively high scoring game 1. So far we have played a 4 seed, 2 seed and 3 wins vs 3 seeds. Florida was also a 3 seed. I wonder if a team has ever won the CWS without beating another 1 seed?

Also we are 30-0 vs non sec teams this year. Our win over Florida conceivable could be our last SEC game.

Isn't the park at UF a cracker box? I remember some balls leaving the yard that probably shouldn't have.

If we win game 1, I expect to make it to the 2nd weekend. If we don't win game 1, I'll join the "hope we have fun" group.

I'm more confident in winning our bracket than I would feel as a Vol winning their bracket.

Also won't be stealing our pitch com this time around either.

I'm proud of this team no matter what and I won't commit to an expectation because I want to enjoy the ride.

Setting that comment aside, I do think this team will only make a run if Prager is elite and especially elite in game 1. We won't be playing Oregon in Omaha so we need good starting pitching. Good Prager gives a great chance at the winners bracket. If we win game 1, I personally believe we play NC State in game 2. NC State's #2 starter isn't good and they have the most suspect pitching staff in Omaha (IMO) with a team ERA over 6.00. I like our chances against them over Kentucky in game 2. If we can win games 1 and 2, we don't play again till Wednesday. To me, Prager could pitch again on Thursday if we lose Wednesday to send us to the final. That is why Prager is the key. Two great performances from Prager and we have a shot to win it all. BUT with no Sdao, I fear our pitching depth is too thin to come out of the losers bracket. It would take an all time epic showing from our pen and lineup to give us a chance to win 4 straight after a loss by Prager in game 1. If we lose game 1 and Cortez gets us out of Game 2 in the Losers Bracket with a win, I just don't think we have the depth to win 3 more and then still have rested arms for a 3 game series starting 2 days later. That would be asking a lot to overcome. Anything is possible, I guess.

Dream scenario: Prager goes deep in game 1 and the bats give us a big enough lead to not use Cortez. Cortez starts game 2 and Aschenbeck closes it out with a second win (I know Cortez has embraced the reliever role but I think Schloss makes a change). Then we play a decimated pitching staff in game 3 to not even have to go to game 4. This allows us to start Prager on Saturday for the first game of the finals and Cortez again on Sunday. Aschenbeck in relief for both games.

I know, I know… one can dream. The point is, it all starts with getting a good Prager.

I'll say this now. There is 0% chance we will the whole thing if Florida if our last SEC game. I guess the key word is conceivable, but practically impossible if we want to go all the way.

I agree with almost all that, but Cortez is not going to start any game. Schloss will run a different starter out there with a short leash, and Cortez could still end up with a starter's pitch count. But he won't start.

Yes, Prager HAS to be the best SP out there in Game 1.

Not so sure about that one with Sdao being out. Schloss might change things up bc he is focused on trying to win it all. Thus, he's going to set things up with whatever he thinks gets him the best chance to win the first TWO games.

I doubt he shows his cards as well. No need to and help the other teams prepare. We shall see.

We're going to end up in some hot and heavy litigation with West Ham United when it's all said and done.

1) I think we are on the hardest side of the bracket.

2) I think people see what we did to Vandy and UGA (come from behind RR) and they know we have the bats to win any game, and no lead they have is safe.

3) if we limit walks we win, I don't care about giving up hits or HRs, force them to put the ball in play and we can trust our fielding.

I think the injury to BMont woke up the bats. When you have those numbers with OBP and HRs, you feel confident in the top of the order to get theirs and take pressure off 4-9. But it seems with Mont down, guys have gotten hungrier. The ABs have been more crisp. (Sure there are still weaknesses, but even in those weaknesses, I don't hate the rationale or execution.)

5) it wouldn't surprise me to see other teams collapse like Kentucky, first time going, or Florida who has been really inconsistent.

I will say, it's pretty easy to stand in the box and not swing when the Duck pitchers have pitched 40 balls and 6 strikes

Anything short of winning it all and I'll be disappointed. Yes, this team has had a great year and is maybe the best team we've ever had, but that's why I also believe we are fully capable of beating anyone we face - even with the injuries.
