Wasn't one of the women's final four games this year finished with like 5 people on each team because all bench players got ejected for coming on the court? They aren't afraid to throw entire teams out on technicalities.

Agreed! Anyone in the area for Florida who was not the pitcher, catcher, or first baseman should have been ejected for leaving their position to go to the altercation.

Official ruling statement was that he was ejected for leaving his position. No mention of contact to umpire. Florida SS and 3B should have been ejected for the same reason.

It was a slight detour for him on his way to the dugout. The Florida defenders went way out of their way to go there. All that time for a review and they still screwed it up.

It's not the crew. It's the replay command center in Pittsburgh. I'm not real clear on who actually mans that room for the tournament since it's no longer the conferences.

They didn't make any of the decisions, the person on the headset sitting in a control room did. Once it is under review the crew on the field are just the messenger

My read on the situation after hearing the official reason he was ejected is that they spent 20 minutes reviewing the play to figure out who left the bench, realized throwing out the entire Clemson team would be stupid (and the umps would never make it out of that stadium alive), and so they threw out the worst instigator of the situation to save face.

Is it possible they said they ejected him for leaving his position rather than touching the umpire due to severity of the suspension? Isn't physical altercation with ump auto 4 game?

Yes, it has been stated the ejection was for leaving his position and going to the incident, something also done by several Florida defenders. There was an inconsistent application of the rule.
