Such an awesome story, trouble. Wish I could blue star your post more, so here's one more for ya!

I shared your post with my sister, Bev, that taught Ryan in high school at Hallettsville High School. Her initial response, "That's Ryan!!!"

My response, "I wonder what he plans to do after the season, and most likely, his baseball career is over."

Her response, "I have no idea...but I did just text him to tell him how proud I an of him! Thanks for sending..."

My response, "You can let him know I am, too!"

What a great kid he is!!! He's the epitome of the Twelfth Man!!! A great ambassador for Texas A&M University!!!

Thank you, trouble, for sharing you and your Max's story!!!

In an era of "me, me, ME!" it's great to read a story about a young man just focused on others. Ryan, we're proud you're an Aggie.
A fearful society is a compliant society. That's why Democrats and criminals prefer their victims to be unarmed. Gun Control is not about guns, it's about control.

And this. I hope Ryan gets to read this thread and understand how proud we all are of him and the young man he is.

So one day I got to stay back and meet Ryan with Max and Malcolm. All I wanted to do was hug him because he is just a doll and would make mom proud. He's all of a year older than my kid and just amazing. It was a bad day for Ryan, yet when he saw Max, his face lit up and was so sweet with him. He exudes class. He's the best and I'm so thankful that I got to meet him

This. The very reason Targac will go very far in life. Outstanding and very mature young man.

Atta boy Max. Couldn't have picked a better role model and friend. And milk that hair for all its worth. Trust me from someone who no longer has any

This is great story. Thanks for sharing.

My family had a similar story from many years ago. Danny Westerfield was a DB for Gene Stallings' early teams.
His dad worked at same place I did, so one day I asked him if Danny would send an autograph to my two nephews. Not only did Danny send an autograph but photos as well. And I think it continuted to the rest of his career. Danny was another of these Aggie athletes made a difference in little boy's lives.

Trouble, love the story of Max and Ryan. As a parent of a ballplayer, it always made us smile and sometimes baffled us watching our son interact with the young fans regardless of the situation or game results. As difficult as it can sometimes be to raise a boy who is competitively belligerent, it at least gave us hope we did something right. It can be such an emotional Rollercoaster for the players and it's cool to see how their interaction with young fans can keep them grounded in why they love the game.

Thank you for sharing.

He was a great choice for #12 this year regardless of how the stats played out. I don't think I've ever heard a negative thing about him as a person and he'll forever have that great moment towards the end of the season.

He obviously loves playing ball and I'm secretly hoping him being in the coaching box at first the last half of this year is the first step in what turns out to be a great coaching career if he chooses to go that direction.

Ryan, thank you for everything. For leaving it all on the diamond. For staying. For stepping into whatever role coach needed. For being a positive role model both on and off the field. And mostly, for being My Friend Ryan to a wild little Max with a head full of wicked cool red hair.

Great story. He is my favorite player and has been since he's been here. I hope that maybe after this year, he could become a grad assistant here. I'm sure he would make an excellent coach!
