Water or something else? Also read you can bring seatbacks in but must be no wider than 16in, doubt they sit there with a tape measure at gate, or do they???

Absolutely no. They won't even let people bring in water bottles for kids anymore.

They have a rough idea of what size is allowed. If it's oversized, they'll tell you no

I wouldn't take that as gospel. Was stopped the other day for bringing something in that is explicitly allowed by this list.
I post things like that to arm the populace against bureaucratic tyrants.

My 10 year old son has been begging to catch an aggie game this season, and this friday will be our best and only chance to pull it off. The cost of all the standard seating is not a pill we are going to swallow, but i can pull a couple hundred per ticket for GA. Can anyone give me a quick rundown on what that will be like with a 10 year old (he is tough as nails, fortunately) and expected heat / rain?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Since he's "tough as nails" you both should go shirtless in the Section 12 right field bleachers...no sun screen allowed.
